You can pick from forest green or sage depending on your style.

For art-deco houses, deep greens tend to work best, while cottage-style homes will benefit from using lighter shades.

Green is a classic, versatile choice,” said Natalie Simone, interior designer at Morris and Milne.

It pops against red brick, sits beautifully on a country cottage, and can sit amongst any front garden scheme seamlessly.”

AUBERGINE

Moody hues have been everywhere in 2025, and the trend is here to stay for 2026.

Aubergine and deep purples with a reddish hue are perfect to add drama without looking out of place.

“I think we’ll see an increase in aubergine tones, which is a rich, warm choice that can also feel very grounded,” explains Natalie Simone.

If aubergine feels a little too out there for you, opt for a cherry red or wine red for a softer finish with a dramatic flair.

BURNT ORANGE

We’re all drawn to cosy autumn colours this time of year, but experts expect them to stay way past the season has ended.

The interior designer expects to see lots of ‘grown-up reds’ in 2026, including burnt orange.

While orange is set to take centre stage, terracottas and dark browns will also be on trend, adding a sophisticated warmth to your house.

Hottest home trends for 2025

Renovations expert Andy Simms, from MyBuilder.com revealed the hottest interior design trends for this year.

COLOUR DRENCHING

Colour drenching involves using your colour across walls and ceilings to maximise the impact and create the illusion of a bigger space – doors, radiators, and even furniture won’t escape the paint job if you want the full effect. Brown, terracotta, beige – once the preserve of the 70s, earthy colours have been slowly gaining popularity. Similarly, bold greens and blues are also making a return, with the intention of colour drenching rooms.

STATEMENT WALLPAPER

Wallpaper divides designers, with some loving it and others preferring painted walls. 2025 will see a resurgence of wallpaper, and the bolder the better. For small spaces, such as downstairs loos or studies, choose a bold print and ignore any concerns about making the space look smaller. For larger spaces, consider a stunning mural theme.

BROKEN LIVING PLAN

Open plan living has been popular for over a decade now, but while it hasn’t quite had its day, many are returning to smaller, functional spaces – with a twist. “Broken plan” is when a bigger space is cut into various parts using screens, archways, crittal-style windows and doors or textured glass.

TEAL

With nature-inspired colours taking over the interior world, teal is the perfect option.

A mix of both blue and green, this colour works well to add boldness while holding a neutral quality.

“It’s both tranquil and energising, and helps to create a positive and welcoming exterior,” explained Natalie Mitchell.

Either pair it with whites and navies for a sophisticated look or use natural materials like wood for an earthy contrast.
