THERE’S fresh fears for the future of Hamilton Accies tonight after the club’s ownership row took a fresh twist.
It had been claimed Morley Sports Management Group – fronted by Welsh businessman Rob Edwards – had taken control of the crisis-torn League One club.

Edwards was even pictured this week at Broadwood Stadium with former international middle distance runner Rebecca Nuttall appointed acting chief executive.
But it has now emerged that The Funding Globe Limited – the company which provided emergency financial support to Accies after majority shareholder Seref Zengin struggled to pay wages for players and staff at the end of last year – is disputing Edwards’ claims.
Funding Globe represent Johnny Towers was appointed a statutory director at the club last month after Zengin and fellow director Gerry Strain were deemed “not fit and proper” by the SFA.
SunSport understands administrators Begbies Traynor, currently handling the administration at Sheffield Wednesday, have been briefed on Accies’ situation.
And a statement on the club’s website last night warned fans of the latest financial threat to the club.
It stated: “Hamilton Academical FC is currently under threat of administration following a default under its secured lending arrangements.
“The Charge Holder (Funding Globe) has made repeated attempts to engage constructively and reach an agreed resolution, however matters remain unresolved at this time, including uncertainty regarding the true ownership of shares.
“Further updates will be provided in due course.”
Accies, who are due to play at Peterhead on Saturday, have already been deducted 31 points over the last nine months for various breaches of Hampden rules.
Last season’s points penalty led to relegation from the Championship and they have suffered two more deductions this term.
Manager John Rankin quit before Christmas and several players have already left for other clubs.
Captain Scott Robinson joined Arbroath while defender Cale Loughrey this week signed for Partick Thistle.
Caretaker boss Darian Mackinnon has struggled to fill the subs’ bench and released an impassioned plea recently for fans to dig deep and help the club.
It’s understood SFA chiefs were last night monitoring the latest development, with SPFL bosses likely to become involved too.
