High street bargain giant to lock doors at all 280 shops for 48 hours this Christmas

BARGAIN hunters hoping for a last‑minute spree at The Range face disappointment, as the retailer has announced a strict 48‑hour closure.

The popular home, garden, and leisure retailer has announced it will keep the shutters down at every single one of its stores across the UK for two full days over the festive period.

Unlike some years where Boxing Day sales see queues forming at dawn, The Range is locking up to give its hard-working staff a well-deserved break.

Bosses at the high street favourite have confirmed that all 280 branches will remain closed on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

This move means staff can put their feet up and enjoy uninterrupted family time without the looming pressure of a chaotic December 26 shift.

For shoppers, this means the window to grab those essential homeware gifts or last-minute decorations is closing fast.

If you were planning to rush out the day after Christmas to grab a discount, you will need to hold your horses until the doors swing back open on December 27.

The Range isn’t standing alone in this decision, joining a growing list of major high street names turning their backs on the traditional Boxing Day sales frenzy.

You won’t be able to pop into Home Bargains, Wickes, or B&Q either, as they have all pledged to keep their doors locked on Boxing Day.

Supermarkets are splitting opinion this year, too.

While Tesco is shutting its massive superstores on Boxing Day, some of its smaller Express branches will remain open with reduced hours.

Meanwhile, upmarket grocer Waitrose is keeping almost all its branches closed, aside from a handful helping delivery platforms.

But not every retailer is following the shutdown trend.

If you desperately need a pint of milk or a festive snack, budget favourite Lidl has confirmed it will open across most of the UK on Boxing Day, albeit with shorter operating hours for essentials.
