Helen Flanagan reveals the ‘real reason’ she signed up for I’m A Celeb All Stars after marriage split

HELEN Flanagan has revealed she decided to sign up for I’m A Celebrity All Stars to get away from her ex Scott Sinclair following their split.

The Coronation Street star, 35, was one of 15 show legends who travelled to South Africa in 2023 for another gruelling experience in the great outdoors.

Helen was still living with footballer Scott at the time and the tension at home was close to unbearable.

Both actively avoided each other as much as possible with Scott looking for a new club in London and Helen working away as much as she could.

Writing in her new memoir Head & Heart, she said: “So when an opportunity to take part in an ‘all-star’ version of I’m a Celebrity…! which would be filmed in South Africa and feature a cast of memorable campmates from previous series, I grabbed it with both hands.

“Not only would it give me a break from the troubles at home, but the idea of going back in there a decade on from my first stint, and having the chance to redeem myself was a really strong pull.”

Helen said she “embarrassed” herself on the show first time around in 2012 and had been too “young and naive” for the show.

To prepare for All-Stars and to ensure she banished her scaredy-cat image, she did a boot camp before the show including multiple trips to Go Ape, where she tackled aerial assault course in treetops.

She said: “I went there so many times in the weeks leading up to South Africa it was an actual joke.”

Helen finished a respectable 7th in the end, making it to day 12.

The first All Stars series was won by Myleene Klass with Jordan Banjo and Fatima Whitbread finishing as runners-up.

The second All Stars series is set to air on ITV later this year.
