It left locals fearful that someone had died after hearing the horrific crash.

The terrifying accident took place on the evening of August 21, along Factory Lane in Blackley, Manchester.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 5.15pm following reports from local residents.

Manchester Evening News reported that the two passengers inside the car were checked over by paramedics but were not seriously injured.

CCTV footage shows the terrifying crash.

As two cars are oncoming, the white hatchback can be seen mounting the kerb.

The motorists then smash into a lamppost, flipping the car onto its roof.

In the footage, viewers can see the hatchback skidding along its side doors, kicking up plumes of dust.

Parts of the car have broken off and can be seen tumbling into the road.

An oncoming car swerves to avoid the vehicle before driving over the loose parts.

As the car continues to skid along the road on its roof, it plows through a nearby garage.

It destroyed the MOT sign, and caused damage to the cars parked outside the garage.

As it comes to a stop, the broken lamppost falls across the three cars.

The crashed hatchback is seen resting atop the back end of one of the cars parked in the garage.

A pile of broken-off car parts lies underneath, while torn up grass and debris is seen littering the pavement.

As the footage ends, a man can be seen running into frame in the direction of the crash.

Manchester Evening News reported that two of the cars parked at the garage had to be written off because of the incident, with a third damaged.

The owner of North Manchester MOT Centre, Abdul Kadar Sarfraz, said that his employees immediately ran to the scene after they “heard a loud screech and then a big bang”.

He then said that they helped pull the two passengers to safety.

Abdul was concerned that someone was seriously hurt “with the way the lamppost bent and ripped out of the ground almost two houses away.”

This was particularly concerning given how busy the street can get, as he said children had been playing in the garden where the lamppost was throughout the week.

He added that this is the fourth crash along the road since January.

Following the incident, Greater Manchester Police charged a man with a number of offences.

Matthew Thomas was charged with dangerous driving, no insurance, no licence, and driving when alcohol level above limit.

He has been bailed and is scheduled to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on December 9.
