A CRAFT brewer that appeared on Dragon’s Den has now entered administration.
Aiming to become the craft version of Bud Light years ago, the company sadly revealed their plans to bid retailer’s farewell via LinkedIn.
Jason Clarke, co-founder of Genius Brewing, cited “seismic shifts in the UK’s beer and hospitality industries” had made it “incredibly tough for small, challenger brands to reach the customer,” before launching into a heartfelt message of goodbye.
“It is with a heavy heart that Genius Brewing has to announce that our eight-year journey has come to an end and that the business is in the process of entering administration.
“We simply couldn’t survive in today’s ‘pay to play’ marketplace.”
Genius Brewing was founded by Jason and fellow co-founder Charlie Craig in Glasgow, and launched its first beer in 2018.
It was a lower alcohol craft larger that began gaining popularity.
Following the success, the dynamic duo made an appearance on Dragon’s Den in 2021.
Despite declining a £120,000 for 30% of their business from former dragon Tej Lalvani, Jason and Charlie continued to grow their business.
In 2022 the brand added an IPA to its lineup and began collaborating with motor neurone disease charity My Name’s Doddie Foundation to raise vital funds.
Genius Brewing donated 5p from each sale of their drinks to the amazing cause, collecting over £35,000.
“We’d like to thank our loyal investors, customers, suppliers, business partners, and all who embraced out belief in a #SmartDrinkingFuture,” Jason concluded in the farewell post.
According to filings at Companies House, Jason and Craig ceased o be directors at Genius Brewing on November 25 2025.
