Has Mickey Rourke redeemed himself? Fans praise actor’s hilarious quips and for respecting Danny Beard’s pronouns – after branding him ‘creepy’ for leering at AJ Odudu

Mickey Rourke appears to have redeemed himself following his awkward Celebrity Big Brother entrance, with fans of the show warming to him.

The Hollywood actor, 72, was criticised for his ‘creepy behaviour’ on launch night when he leered at show host AJ Odudu and wrapped his arm around her waist.

But after Tuesday’s episode, viewers are now warming to the actor for his unintentionally comedic behaviour – such as appearing confused by the premise of the show and falling asleep on the couch.

Mickey volunteered to go to the task room where he got confused by what he had to do, thinking he was gifting someone a scooter.

He then chose to give a prize to Love Island host Chris Hughes. He couldn’t remember his name so referred to him as ‘the good-looking kid, I think he said he’s from Australia’.

He was later called to the Diary Room by Big Brother and then said: ‘Where’s the dining room?’ as the other housemates had to help him get there.

On spin-off show Late & Live, both the studio guests and the audience appeared to have warmed to Mickey, recognising his comedic potential as a housemate.

Former winner and guest Kate Lawler said: ‘I love that he thought he was giving a scooter to Chris. He reminds me of my nan. As much as I was disappointed in his behaviour last night, he is very entertaining. I do like him as a housemate.’

Fellow guest Eddie said: ‘The moment he picked where he was going to sit, I said, that’s my guy.’ He later described Mickey as having a ‘big heart’.

AJ then went into the audience to get some other opinions with one man saying: ‘I think he’s fantastic, he has that Gary Busey energy where we don’t know what he’ll do next.’

AJ then went over to a woman who asked her: ‘Are you OK from last night?’

‘I’m absolutely tip top, thanks for asking,’ AJ replied.

Mickey was also praised by viewers whe he discussed RuPaul‘s Drag Race star Danny Beard in the Diary Room.

The actor said he wasn’t sure whether to refer to Danny as ‘he’ or ‘she’. Big Brother suggested he refer to Danny as ‘she’ while in drag and ‘he’ or ‘they’ while out of drag.

Mickey said he found the idea of using different pronouns ‘confusing’ but thought Danny seemed like a nice person.

It comes after Mickey drew sharp criticism from viewers for his behaviour towards AJ Odudu on launch night.

Within minutes of his arrival, the Hollywood actor was seen leering at the ITV show’s host. After being introduced to AJ by her co-host Will Best, Mickey approached her on stage, grabbing her around the waist and spinning her in a circle.

The presenter looked more and more uncomfortable but kept her professional composure as she told the actor to ‘stop looking at me’.

She then turned him around by his shoulders and directed him to the door, with the actor heard saying: ‘No, I want to stay with you.’

It was at this point that AJ’s co-host Will Best stepped in, pulling AJ back from Mickey who had grabbed her by the arm. ‘Don’t take AJ with you!’ he shouted after the actor.

Viewers shared their shock at the interraction with Will Njobvu on TikTok blasting Mickey as ‘disrespecful’ whilst lukeelkinstv captioned a clip with the words: ‘disgusting get him out’.

Others such as @Sophsingsandthings posted their real-time reactions to the star’s entrance.

The TikToker said that after a positive first impression, she decided he was ‘cringey and creepy’.

Fans also took to X to say: ‘Scared for all the women in that house now with how Mickey was with AJ on live television mind you.’

‘I needed a scandal this season and i believe mickey rourke will provide it.’

‘Oh dear. Not a fan of Mickey already after that entrance.’

‘Everyone’s joking about Mickey Rouke and I get why, but I want to be serious for a second.

‘No female TV presenter should be made to feel like AJ just did. He shouldn’t have been allowed on this show if he can’t control himself around women. I hated that ngl.’

‘There’s surely no way Mickey Rourke doesn’t either walk or get booted out for being inappropriate.’

Alan Carr led the reaction to Mickey on spin-off show Late and Live, asking AJ: ‘Can we talk about Mickey Rourke looking at you? Wow his eyes.

‘Find someone who looks at you the way Mickey looks at you [AJ]. His tongue was hanging out.’

AJ quipped back: ‘It literally was. I was like “You can’t afford these feathers Mickey, no!”‘

A spokesman for CBB told MailOnline: ‘All of the housemates have a conversation in advance about expected language and behaviour. The CBB team also have daily meetings to discuss welfare matters.’
