Harry Styles has finally started work on his £18million mega-mansion project, six year after buying the sprawling home.
The former One Direction star, 31, who is worth £225million, is knocking two houses into one mansion to create a supersized home.
He has also bought an adjoining house as a gatehouse and a fourth home on the same street for guests to make his mansion complex arguably the most prestigious part of the capital.
Harry has spent around £18 million on buying the houses and it’s not clear how much more he will spend to realise his very grand vision, which includes a master suite with four dressing rooms, an art gallery and an indoor patio.
The project started way back in 2019 when he bought the first house for £8.8 million and planning permission was granted almost two years ago – but scaffolding has only just gone up.
He quietly bought a house in Rome, close to his friend the fashion designer Alessandro Michele, in early 2024 and moved in after splitting from actress Taylor Russell.

Before buying in Rome, Harry, 31, was in the habit of staying in a five star hotel in London. Some reports suggested that he had splurged £2million in a couple of years on staying in a £2,500 a night hotel.
He is now ‘head over heels’ in love with actress Zoe Kravitz and the two of them are regularly spotted strolling around the Italian city.
Harry has also been spending some time recently in Berlin, Germany, working on a new solo album.
Works at Harry’s are estimated to be complete at the end of 2027, meaning that Harry’s ‘Roman Holiday’ is going to go on for some time yet.
Harry’s team have held three meetings with locals and also sent round leaflets – keeping an open line of communication with them in case they have complaints about site traffic and noise.
He has agreed to fit ‘acoustic enclosures to suppress noisy equipment’ and ‘operate plant [machinery] at low speeds and incorporate automatic low speed idling’.
Workers will use ‘electrically driven equipment in preference to internal combustion power’ and ‘hydraulic power in preference to pneumatic and wheeled in lieu of tracked plant’.
They also have to switch off engines when a vehicle is standing.

Does Harry Styles’ mega-mansion flaunt wealth or inspire creative ambition in celebrity culture?

The musician was given planning permission in April to combine the properties into a mega-mansion, as long as he created a wildlife haven, including boxes for hedgehogs and bats.
His representatives said in a statement to planners: ‘The proposed development has been carefully crafted to bring the building back as one of the great Hampstead houses.
‘It proposes to amalgamate the two houses, along with internal and alterations, extensions to the second, ground and lower ground floors, and extensive landscaping in order to reinstate and provide substantial enhancement to the Grade II listed building.’
They added community engagement events had taken place and insisted the plans do not intrude on light. A source observed that Harry was ‘giving Ed Sheeran a run for his money’ with the building work.
The star has agreed to a number of measures to protect local wildlife including bug hotels and bat boxes.
The area is teeming with wildlife and one survey detected a feral pigeons nest, bat emergence from the buildings and a hole used by fox and other small mammals.
If a bat is found to be roosting, builders have to immediately stop and Harry has to apply for a bat licence from Natural England.

It comes days after Harry and Zoe sparked murmurs they have taken their relationship to a whole new level.
In photos obtained by The Sun, a chunky gold band could be seen on Zoe’s ring finger as she enjoyed a romantic stroll with Harry through Rome.
The accessory appeared to be the same one Zoe, 37, was seen wearing last month – a multi-layered gold ring paired with a singular band.
The Daily Mail contacted representatives for Zoe and Harry for comment at the time.
