A GRANDPA and his three-month-old granddaughter were tragically found dead after allegedly being mauled by a pack af deadly pitbulls.
Cops were forced to gun down the seven pitbulls after they attacked 50-year-old James Alexander Smith and the little tot in their Tennessee home.
Cops rushed to the scene to find Smith’s lifeless body inside the house, while the infant was still being mauled by the family’s pack of dogs.
She tragically died by the time cops fought their way to her.
Neighbour Rebecca Adams said the newborn’s heartbroken mother was screaming “my baby” as authorities broke into the house to save the victims.
She said the pitbulls constantly broke loose from the yard and went after other neighbourhood pets – terrorising the whole area.
Adams told WSMV: “They’d run after cats, they’d run after dogs, you know, animal things.
“I could see them be aggressive towards animals. Never did I think they would do that to the kids.”
Cops are now investigating whether the pair were mauled to death or were already dead before the dog attack.
Attorney General Craig Northcott said: “This was an especially difficult and brutal scene.
“Please pray for the family of the victims in this difficult time as well as the first responders, as they cope with the trauma from what they witnessed.”
Officials said the surviving dogs were taken into custody by Tullahoma Animal Control.
They have not yet determined whether criminal charges will be filed.
It comes just days after Madison Riley Hull, 23, was killed in the backyard of a Texas home after being mauled to death by a vicious pack of pit bulls she was pet-sitting.
When police arrived to the Tyler home, they saw Hull lying on the ground in the back yard.
One officer attempted to help the teaching student, the dogs turned on him, according to WTOC-11.
Hull’s mother, Jennifer Hubbell, was distraught when she learned of her daughter’s tragic death.
“I just dropped to my knees,” she said.
“I am shattered in a way I didn’t know a human being could break.
Described as being “love, light, kindness and laughter”, the heartbroken mum said Hull had “loved life with her whole heart and moved through the world with a free spirit that lifted and guided her”.
