‘Got to be honest’ – Tyson Fury insider reveals theory for John’s fiery rant about son just weeks before boxing return

FRANK WARREN has revealed his theory for John Fury’s explosive rant about son Tyson just weeks before his boxing return.

John revealed earlier this month that he’s firmly against The Gypsy King’s ending of his fifth retirement from boxing, which will officially end when he takes on Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11.

The 60-year-old stunningly claimed the former two-time heavyweight champion’s best days are behind him and that his team are blowing smoke up his backside.

John wasn’t a part of Tyson’s corner for his ill-fated rematch with Oleksandr Usyk last December and won’t play any role in next month’s tussle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And long-time Tyson promoter Frank Warren believes John’s gripes are in part down to him no longer being in charge of his son’s training.

During an appearance on talkSPORT, the Queensberry Promotions chief said: “I think the big thing which upsets John is the training.”

The timing of John’s airing of the Fury family’s dirty laundry has perplexed Warren.

He continued: “I’ve got to be honest and I mean this with the greatest of respect because I’m not involved in family matters.

“But it’s not the sort of thing you should be having a couple of weeks before a fight.

“I am sure that Tyson would have preferred it not said.

“And I am a big believer that you haven’t got to tell the world what you’ve got to say to your family.”

Warren has seen many an ageing fighter make ill-fated returns to the ring when they should’ve remained retired.

The veteran promoter understands the concerns of John, who claims his relationship with Tyson has been “DESTROYED” by boxing, but is adamant the fan favourite still has what it takes to compete at the top level.

He said: “I never asked him to come back or encouraged him in any way because that has got to be his decision.

“He is a very wealthy guy, financially, he is set up for life probably 10 lives under.

“But he wants to fight and he has been in the gym, he is in tremendous shape and that is his decision.

“I understand where his family is coming from and where his Dad is coming from.

“However, it is Tyson’s decision and if he is going to come back, he is fighting in a couple of weeks’ time.

“And I’d much rather he does it now than sits around for four or five [months or years] because his powers won’t be the same.

“He has not got a lot of miles on the clock, so we will see.”
