GLADIATORS legend Jet has called for the BBC show to have a shake up, claiming there is just “one thing missing”.
The TV icon shot to fame on the popular 90s series, and was known for being the pin-up star of the show.
Jet, whose real name is Diane Youdale, graced our TV screens every weekend on the hit show Gladiators from 1992 to 1996.
She was one of the biggest stars of the show, thanks to her model good looks and incredible figure.
Over the years, Diane is still fondly remembered as Jet, by fans who would tune into Gladiators on Saturday nights in the 90s.
Two years ago, the show was brought back to life by the BBC and it has been going strong ever since.
But speaking exclusively to The Sun, Diane, who is a fan of the new series, told us one thing that she thinks is “missing” from the Gladiators reboot.
“For me, maybe a slightly more visible representation of LGBTQ,” she told us.
“It would be nice. There was a fabulous contender from, I think, last year Amanda Wah, who won, and I’m sure she wouldn’t mind mentioning her.
“She was just a phenomenally good contender and all-rounder and I think she mentioned it would be lovely to have somebody who was more visibly from that community as a Gladiator.”
Continuing, Diane, who split from her wife Zoe last year, said: “Off the top of my head, it’s the only thing that’s missing because you’ve got the glamour, you’ve got the strength, you’ve got the baddies, you’ve got the glamorous goodies on the male and female side.
“That’s the one thing that’s missing for me.”
Diane had trained as a choreographer before she became a Gladiator in the 90s.
In 1996, she quit the show after suffering a 40ft fall in the Pole Axe stunt, crushing her nose after she hit the airbags.
She later told the Gladpod podcast: “My knees literally went into my face and I broke my nose… I had heard the crack, and I could see my nose out of my left eye.”
Diane retired from Gladiators and went on to star on TV shows, present dance shows and train as a psychiatrist.
She previously spoke of having a love affair with former Gladiators co-star James Crossley — known as Hunter.
The pair dated for two years but the pair ultimately struggled over their age gap and they broke up.
Meanwhile, the TV star shocked fans when she split up with her wife last year, after just under two years of marriage.
The star married wife Zoe in 2023 after meeting in the aisles of a supermarket the year before.
An insider told MailOnline at the time: “Diane and Zoe just realised it wasn’t to be. They didn’t see any point carrying on so decided to end their marriage.
“It’s sad, especially as they were only married for nearly 18 months, but they just weren’t getting on.
“On reflection, they may have rushed into making their relationship official but there’s no regrets or hard feelings between them.”
