How to claim one month of Kindle Unlimited for FREE

October is a great time to refresh your reading list.

Amazon’s latest Kindle Unlimited offer gives book lovers one month free.

Once signed up, you’ll unlock a vast library in the Kindle app on your phone or tablet, with no Kindle device required – and getting started is simple.

You can cancel anytime.

How does Kindle Unlimited work?

Kindle Unlimited is a monthly membership that unlocks a vast library of eBooks, magazines, and a curated selection of audiobooks.

Once you’re in, you can borrow as many titles as you like with no due dates, and keep up to 20 on your device at once.

It works on every Kindle, as well as the free Kindle app for your phone, tablet, or laptop, allowing your reading to sync across devices and enabling you to download content for offline use.

Getting started is simple: just look for the Kindle Unlimited badge, click ‘Read for £0’, and it’s added to your library.

You can manage or cancel your membership from the Kindle Unlimited page in your Amazon account whenever you like.

The catalogue is refreshed regularly, so expect new reads to arrive and some titles to rotate over time.

What books are included with Kindle Unlimited?

Kindle Unlimited offers a vast catalogue of digital reads, including eBooks, magazines, comics, and a growing selection of audiobooks.

Amazon says members can access more than 5 million titles, featuring a mix of chart-toppers, indie hits, and Amazon Publishing exclusives in the lineup.

Not every book on Amazon is included, though.

To see if a title is part of your membership, look for the Kindle Unlimited badge or the Read for £0 button on the product page.

You can also visit the Kindle Unlimited page to browse by category and top picks, making it quick and simple to find your next read.

Expect a wide range of titles across crime and thrillers, romance, fantasy, sci-fi, nonfiction, children’s books, and more.

The selection refreshes regularly as new titles land and others rotate, so it’s worth checking back often.

How much is Amazon Kindle Unlimited?

In the UK, Kindle Unlimited costs £9.49 a month. That’s the standard rate after any introductory offer ends.

New customers can usually start with a free trial shown on the Kindle Unlimited page, and when it finishes, your membership will automatically roll into a paid plan at the monthly price unless you cancel.

You can cancel at any time from Manage Your Kindle Unlimited Membership in your Amazon account, and update your payment details there as well.

Trial lengths can vary during promotions, so please check the offer banner before signing up.

Does Kindle Unlimited go on sale during Black Friday?

Yes, Kindle Unlimited regularly features a headline offer around Black Friday, and we’re hoping 2025 is no exception.

In the past, book lovers have been treated to two or three months of Kindle Unlimited for free.

All you have to do is sign up for the available free trial to get started.

However, availability and eligibility can vary, and it is important to note that these deals auto-renew at the standard monthly rate when the promotion ends, unless you cancel.

Always check the banner before signing up.

If you are planning your basket, expect Kindle Unlimited deals to sit alongside Kindle hardware discounts and heavy eBook markdowns during Black Friday.

Does Amazon Prime include Kindle Unlimited?

Amazon Prime doesn’t include Kindle Unlimited; it’s a separate paid membership, and you don’t need Prime to sign up.

If you’re a Prime member, you do get Prime Reading included, which is a smaller, rotating library of eBooks, magazines, and comics.

Kindle Unlimited is the bigger upgrade, offering access to over a million titles, while Prime Reading includes a little over a thousand, with some overlap between the two catalogues.

If you’re weighing it up, think of Prime Reading as a nice perk and Kindle Unlimited as the all‑you‑can‑read option.

Deals and free trials often appear throughout the year, especially around major shopping events, so it’s worth checking the current offer before you join.

How do I cancel my Amazon Kindle Unlimited subscription?

If you’re not using your Kindle Unlimited subscription as much as you’d like, you can easily cancel it.

How to cancel your Kindle Unlimited subscription

  1. Navigate to your account and sign in if you haven’t already.
  2. Go to the Memberships & Subscriptions page. You can find this by hovering over Account & Lists in the top-right corner.
  3. Scroll down to the Kindle Unlimited section.
  4. Select the option to Cancel Kindle Unlimited Membership.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm the cancellation.

If you don’t want to cancel entirely, you can also pause your monthly subscription for one month.

This option isn’t available if you’re on a free trial or a promotional offer. If you do pause your subscription, you can resume it at any time.

For more information, visit the help page.

Do you still have to pay for books if you have Kindle Unlimited?

Once your membership is active, you can borrow any title in the Kindle Unlimited catalogue and read it as often as you like, with no due dates, all covered by your monthly fee.

If a book doesn’t carry the Kindle Unlimited badge, it isn’t part of the catalogue, so you’ll need to buy it separately at the usual Kindle price.

Kindle Unlimited titles are essentially borrowed, so access ends if you cancel your membership.

You’ll need a valid payment method on your Amazon account, and you can manage or cancel from the Kindle Unlimited section of your account settings at any time.

Do I need to have a Kindle to use Kindle Unlimited?

You don’t need a Kindle e‑reader to use Kindle Unlimited. The membership works on the free Kindle app for phones, tablets, and computers, as well as on Kindle devices.

Just download the app, sign in with your Amazon account, and start borrowing eligible titles as part of your plan, with no due dates to worry about.

It’s ideal if you read on an iPhone or Android on the go, then switch to an iPad, Fire tablet, or laptop at home.

To avoid extra charges, stick to books in the Kindle Unlimited catalogue; titles outside the selection can still be bought separately.
