REALITY TV star Gemma Collins has shared a fresh health update on her mum’s health condition.
The star has detailed the Christmas turmoil facing the Collins clan amid Joan’s ongoing health woes.
Her mum was recently allowed to return home from hospital after a five-week stint due to pneumonia and other health issues.
But despite the family being able to celebrate together, Gemma has admitted she is struggling to look forward to the festive period as a result of her mother’s health concerns.
Speaking to the Mirror before her mum was formally discharged, Gemma said: “I’m not feeling Christmas this year. I don’t feel that there’s any magic in the air. My mum’s in hospital at the moment.
“Until she’s home, I can’t really think about it. I am not feeling Christmas one bit.”

She also admitted she has been struggling seeing people’s lavish and over-the-top displays of the festive period on social media.
Gemma added: “Thankfully I feel that it’s become, this year, just very grotesque – so much over-the-topness on Instagram.
“People are losing the meaning of Christmas. It’s about who you’re spending time with and who’s around your table, not the presents.
“I think everyone needs to calm themselves down and remember what Christmas is actually about.”
It is clear that family is at the forefront of Gemma’s mind after a challenging few months.
She is currently loved-up with her fiance Rami Hawash and helps to care for his young son but she has always been honest about her struggles to have a child of her own.
Gemma and Rami have been taking his son to visit Joan in hospital throughout her recent ordeal.
Joan was raced to hospital six weeks ago as her health deteriorated.
Gemma confirmed that Joan, who has often appeared on TV alongside her daughter, had been admitted to hospital in a week that she described as the “toughest of her life”.
70-year-old Joan has been suffering with pneumonia with Gemma now praising her ongoing recovery as an “absolute miracle”.
Joan has faced a series of health woes over the past few years.
In May 2024, Gemma was left heartbroken as she told how her mum was in intensive care following a breast cancer diagnosis.
At the time Joan, who found a cancerous lump between her breast and armpit last year, was rushed to hospital after she stopped breathing.
A month later, Gemma opened up on the moment she was told her mum might die – and would not be resusitated – during another hospital emergency.
Speaking at the book launch of Steve Bennett’s Fibre First diet, Gemma told The Sun: “I’ve had a lot of stress the last couple of weeks.
“My mum was suddenly taken into hospital and I was told she could die.
“They would not resuscitate her if she went into cardiac arrest.”
Joan too found telly fame when she joined The Only Way Is Essex in the fifth season which aired in 2012.
