Gemma Collins reveals she was forced to stop taking fat jabs after suffering agonising pain

GEMMA Collins has revealed she was forced to stop taking fat jabs after suffering agonising pain.

The former TOWIE star, 44, has previously been open about using weight-loss drug Mounjaro and losing an impressive three and a half stone.

But now she’s admitted she had to temporarily stop taking the injections after she was left in “excruciating” pain back in August.

Gemma explained that she “fell to the floor” while celebrating fiancé Rami Hawash’s birthday at a race track.

She told the Mirror: “I had to stop the jabs for a bit because I had a gallbladder attack in August, but they’ve assured me that it’s not actually linked to Mounjaro.”

However, despite the incident, it hasn’t completely deterred Gemma from using the medication, which was originally designed to combat type 2 diabetes.

The ITV star continued: “I’ve given it a rest and I’ve really been managing what I’ve been eating.

“But I think I’m going to start microdosing because I feel with the microdosing, you don’t get all the [side] effects.”

The starting dose is that of 2.5mg, with the recommended maximum dosage standing at 15mg a week.

“I went up to the maximum dose. But my favourite dose was 2.5mg. So I’m going to go microdosing all the way on that now,” The GC explained.

“I’ll always love my food, but it [the injection] stops me. I could only have two or three mouthfuls of roast dinner.

“I went about six weeks without losing a thing, but I was being lazy, not making scrambled eggs, and having a Twix for breakfast.

“At first you get tired, but your body gets used to it. I still want to lose 6st from my heaviest, but I’m not in a rush doing it this time. I’m doing this the right way.”

According to the NHS, Mounjaro, also known as Tirzepatide, makes you feel fuller for longer and therefore less hungry.

Common side effects that could affect more than one in ten people include nausea, diarrhoea, stomach pain, indigestion and gallstones.

Having struggled with weight gain since being diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome aged 28, Gemma weighed in at over 23st and a size 26 at her heaviest.

She began using the NHS-approved Mounjaro weight loss jabs in November last year and has lost three and a half stone in weight.

The Celebrity Big Brother icon previously told The Sun: “For me, taking the jab is more about helping me not to fixate on food, so I actually only eat once a day now and don’t snack.

“I used to fascinate about food all day, but now it’s not a major player in my life anymore, I’ve forgotten all about it.

“If I get a bit hungry, I’ll have something to eat, but it’s just about making smarter choices.

“The jabs aren’t for everyone but it’s a life changing drug for some people if it’s taken correctly and not abused. It has helped me a lot.”

Gemma, who is a poster girl for shapely women, now only eats one meal a day after a two-decade battle with her body.

However she refuses to lose her famous curves, telling The Sun: “Nothing against skinny people, but I don’t ever want to be thin.”
