ACTOR Larry Lamb has revealed the secret to his 50-year career – daily cold water swims in the nude.
The Gavin & Stacey and EastEnders star, 77, says he takes a sea dip no matter the weather.
Father of four Larry — visiting the sitcom’s setting of Barry, South Wales, to promote his first novel — said: “I swim every day of the year.”
Asked if he wore a wetsuit, he replied: “No, in my birthday suit.”
Larry, who played Gavin’s dad Mick Shipman, was seen in Barry’s Whitmore Bay last November while filming the final episode of the long-running comedy.
In June this year, the star, who first trod the boards in 1975, took a taxi to Tynemouth, near Newcastle, where he was seen to take a 40-minute dip in the North Sea.
Larry recently revealed that Gavin and Stacey: The Finale, was likely his last ever TV role.
He has gushed how he is delighted to finish off his acting career playing Mick Shipman for the last time.
The Finale of the hit sitcom was aired on BBC on Christmas Day, when Nessa and Smithy finally confessed their feelings to one another before tying the knot.
Larry, who has also starred in EastEnders before, is now focusing on a novel he has written.
Speaking to MailOnline about his retirement from TV acting, Larry said: “You get so involved with these characters that they become your favourite at that time.
“They are the focus of your life.
“But to finish up in my 70s playing a character like Mick who is beloved by millions of people, you have to give the writers credit…
“At this stage in my career Mick is the closest to my heart.”
