‘Game’s gone’ – Cup semi-final draw set to be decided by GO-KART RACE featuring ex-Premier League stars

FANS have said the “Game’s gone” after it was announced a cup semi-final draw would be decided by a GO-KART RACE.

The Welsh League Cup semis will be played between 5-7 December.

Cambrian United booked their spot after beating Briton Ferry Llansawel while Llandudno won a 6-3 thriller against Newtown.

The New Saints swept aside Caernarfon Town 3-0 and Barry Town United knocked out Haverfordwest County to take the last place in the last four.

Before the semis the tournament is regionalised but it is now an open draw, meaning any club could face another.

They will discover their opponents through the tradition of picking balls out of a hat.

But there is a twist, the ball numbers will be decided in a go-kart race featuring former Premier League stars.

Former West Ham defender Danny Gabbidon and ex-Crystal Palace midfielder Joe Ledley will take part.

They will be joined by fellow Welsh stars Andy Legg and Scott Young in the race.

The ball numbers will be assigned in the places in which they finish in the race.

The former players will randomly select one of the four semi-finalists to represent in on the track.

Once the race is run and the ball numbers are decided, the draw. will continue as normal.

Fans have had a mixed reaction to the change to the format as they posted on social media.

One posted: “Game’s gone.”

A second wrote: “I think it’s wicked.”

A third commented: “How absolutely ridiculous.”

A fourth said: “Cup draw decided by a go kart race. I’ve heard it all now.”

Another added: “Never change Welsh football. Never change.”
