MODEL and TV presenter Melinda Messenger has lashed out at the organisers of Miss South Yorkshire after she claims they sacked her from hosting the contest.
The star, 54, took to Instagram to share a lengthy statement in which she claimed her appearance and being “too grey” were just some of the reasons she was dropped from being the official host of the local beauty pageant.
She also said that bosses asked her to take a cut on her already agreed fee.
Taking to Instagram, the furious star hit out at the event and apologised to fans who had been hoping to catch a glimpse of her.
Melinda said: “Sharing this as it’s been brought to my attention that the event is still being advertised with my attendance tonight, and I want to avoid any confusion for those that were expecting to see me there.

“I was unexpectedly withdrawn from the line-up after concerns were raised about my appearance, specifically that I’d gone ‘too grey’ and about some of my recent social media posts exploring light and energy phenomena.
“There was also a request to reduce my agreed hosting fee.”
Melinda went on to add: “While disappointing, I prefer to focus on the positive.
“I’ve always believed authenticity and openness are strengths, and I’ll continue to express myself in that way.
“I wish everyone involved the best with the event. Xx.”
The Sun has reached out to Miss South Yorkshire for comment.
Offering up support to Melinda in the comments, one fan said to the star: “Btw Melinda, you look absolutely gorgeous whatever colour your hair is, and more importantly, it’s your choice, good on you for not bowing to pressure from others to colour you hair.”
As another added: “Wishing you all the very best Melinda. You’re a stunning lady inside & out. Continue to be your authentic self.”
Melinda first found fame as a glamour model before turning to a career in TV.
She has presented shows including Cowboy Builders and taken part in reality shows such as Celebrity Big Brother and Celebrity SAS.
