After words with the referee, the official brandished a red card to the 58-year-old as tempers flared beyond the five added minutes at the end of the 90 minutes.

As he walked off following his dismissal he then got involved with a Lazio coach after aiming words in his direction.

The visiting staff member was clearly annoyed over something and could be seen arguing towards the former Juventus gaffer.

The last-gasp drama all came from a handball check against Strahinja Pavlovic after the referee was sent to the monitor.

However, after taking his time to view the incident, it was concluded that Pavlovic was in fact fouled in the build-up to the flashpoint and the penalty was denied.

That meant AC Milan picked up a huge three points to go top of Serie A ahead of the massive showdown between Roma and Napoli.

Rafael Leao was the matchwinner as Allegri spoke post-match about the incident that got him red carded.

Speaking to Sky Italia, he explained:  “What did I say to Collu?

“I didn’t insult him at all, I just told him ‘Every time you’re there, chaos happens,’ “

“Because he was there in the first match against Cremonese, but then he also refereed well, and making that decision in the end wasn’t easy.”

The two sides meet again this coming Thursday in the Coppa Italia at the home of Lazio in what is sure to be an exciting contest.

It is then Serie A clashes with Torino and Sassuolo before a clash with Napoli the week before Christmas in the Italian Supercoppa last four.
