- An office employee was furious after discovering a colleague ate her lunch
- Belinda left a threatening note before changing the tone of her words
An office employee has detailed the moment she was so furious after discovering a colleague had secretly eaten her lunch that she penned a threatening note.
Belinda, believed to be a receptionist, was looking forward to her Lean Cuisine when she realised someone had taken it from the fridge.
‘I’m not sure who felt comfortable stealing my food but try it again and just see – Belinda,’ she said in the ‘unhinged’ note.
However, just 15 minutes later, the 33-year-old had a change of heart after calming down – so she decided to change the tone of her note for the culprit.
‘My lunch was taken. Please respect others’ belongings and do not take food that isn’t yours – Belinda. Thanks,’ she said in the new note, along with a love heart.
In a Reddit thread, she explained that she’s the ‘only person’ who can’t leave the front desk for breaks or lunch because she needs to be present at all times.
‘I can’t be away from the front desk for more than three minutes at a time and someone stole my Lean Cuisine,’ Belinda said.
‘I had to end up buying a frozen meal for $6 from a grocery store, which is even more annoying.’

After noticing her lunch was nowhere to be seen, she left an angry note.
‘My first note I wrote was pretty unhinged. I was able to cool down after 15 minutes and changed the note,’ she said.
She added: ‘Don’t steal people’s food, especially the only person who can’t leave to get food.’
Her post was met with more than 4,600 comments – with many divided over the employee’s ‘unhinged’ note.
‘That is a level of pettiness I can get behind,’ one said.
‘I mean, I am ok with it but don’t sign your damn name,’ another shared.
‘The (first) note sounds like you are going to poison the next one,’ one pointed out.
‘I’m always completely flabbergasted at the idea of adults stealing the packed lunch of a co-worker. What kind of person does that?’ another added.

Many shared stories about the lunch thieves at their workplaces.
‘Pretty wild because we had a lunch thief at my last job. I checked the cameras and found exactly who it was and gave her an opportunity to admit it. She still denied she did it. I then reported it to one of the bosses and he said it was impossible because she was too hot. She went on to steal money and other stuff from the company before going AWOL,’ one shared.
‘This started to become a problem at my work so we installed a camera watching the fridge. I ended up firing a guy a few weeks ago who took another employee’s pineapple Fanta, and then blatantly walked around drinking it. People who are willing to steal other people’s food are a blight in the workplace,’ another revealed.
‘I worked at a plant where someone’s lunch would come up missing in the fridge almost every day. Many people went to HR to have them do something about it, but all we got was a shrug, “These things happen”,’ one said.
‘One day one of the HR people’s lunch was stolen and the next day there was an immediate reprimand to all employees, with warning signs posted in the cafeteria that “stealing property is a fireable offence. This includes personal food items”.’
Meanwhile, many took particular issue with the woman’s work for not giving her an appropriate time for lunch breaks.
‘Sorry about the lunch thievery but I’m more concerned for your lack of an adequate and perhaps legally required break,’ one said.
