THE 25th Winter Olympics sees us head to Milan Cortina in Italy.

Legends like Mikaela Shiffrin, Eileen Gu and Francesco Friedrich are looking to add more gold medals to their collection this year.

Team GB are bringing 53 athletes to northern Italy and they have some genuine medal hopes via Matt Weston in the men’s skeleton and in the curling.

A record 116 medal events will feature at the Games, three of which can be won in the brand new sport ski mountaineering.

Team GB are hoping to add to their total of 34 medals won at the Winter Olympics, while the Americans are looking to close the gap on Norway at the top of the all-time medal table.

When is the Winter Olympics 2026?

  • The Winter Olympics officially runs from Friday, February 6 to Sunday, February 22 – though the first action begins on Wednesday February 4 with the mixed doubles curling
  • Events are taking place across northern Italy around Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
  • The iconic football stadium San Siro hosts the opening ceremony and the closing is at the historic Arena di Verona.

How can I watch the Winter Olympics 2026, what TV channel and is there a live stream?

  • British viewers can watch via the BBC and TNT Sports.
  • The BBC will have free coverage from from 9am to 10pm each day across BBC One and BBC Two.
  • US based viewers can watch on NBC and Peacock including the apps and websites of both huge broadcasters.
  • Coverage will start in the US at 2pm ET everyday with a prime time broadcast panned for 8pm ET.
  • There will also be a free second stream of other action called Olympics Extra on the iPlayer.
  • TNT Sports is the place to go for coverage of every event.
