From mattresses layered with cashmere to royal Dubai cutlery, how to make your bedroom look like a five-star presidential suite – starting at just £64

Sumptuously soft sheets, bouncy pillows and uber-comfortable beds, there’s nothing quite like the indulgence of a luxury hotel stay.

But anyone can recreate that five-star feeling at home, without the eye-watering price. With the right touches, your bedroom can rival a presidential suite – with no check-out time to worry about.

Divine duvets

What: When it comes to five-star sleep, Tielle is the name tucked into the pillowcases of the UK’s most luxurious hotels – think Claridge’s, the Rosewood, The Langham and the decadent Pig hotels.

Founder Robert Lancaster-Gaye works to the ethos that top-end hotels need to provide products which show they are better than other establishments. Get your hit of hotel style at home with its billowy Savoy feather and duck down duvets.

Jet-set sheets

What: Practical and durable? Yes. Ultra-comfortable? Beyond doubt. The Reed Family has been weaving pure cotton and linen sheets in Lancashire since 1852.

‘We’re the original sheet family in England,’ says director Mark Reed. Not only are its sheets of the highest quality, but the firm specialises in extra large ones, suitable for the Emperor-sized beds loved by the jet set.

The company entered the hotel business in 1965. When travelling to France, the family stayed at a hotel in Eastbourne. Mark’s sister left a pair of socks on the electric fire and burned down the room. In recompense, his father offered to provide the hotel with new linen. Now, the sheets are found globally in luxury hotels owned by Belmond and Singita and The Ritz in London.

Mattress marvels

What: Small but mighty Devon-based company Naturalmat creates handcrafted pocket-sprung mattresses which are found in elite establishments including Estelle Manor in the Cotswolds, Chewton Glen in the New Forest and Six Senses luxury resorts.

Each one is created with a thick sheet of breathable and supportive organic coir – coiled coconut fibres – layered with natural latex for springiness and then lambswool, cashmere and mohair. They also make bases, toppers and mattress protectors. For those looking to improve their rest, Naturalmat has created a sleep programme with Six Senses hotels.

Legendary beds

What: The flagship Savoir bed showroom is based in Mayfair, central London, and the company, founded in 1905, was originally known as the Savoy Bedworks – creating bespoke beds for the world-famous hotel with the same name.

The original design, the Savoy No2, was slept on by such luminaries as Winston Churchill, Giacomo Puccini and Marilyn Monroe. Savoir still provides beds for the top suites at the Savoy Hotel. The beds are handcrafted in north London, using materials such as curled Argentinian horsehair which acts as springs in the bases, toppers and mattresses.

Living the dream: Pocket sprung mattresses come at a price. Bed sets start from about £7,545, savoirbeds.co.uk.

Hotel artwork

What: If you find yourself lusting after the hotel lobby’s artwork, there’s good news. Thanks to The Art Partnership by Grove Gallery, which curates and places gallery-worthy pieces in luxe lobbies and suites, you can now buy what you admire.

From the regal halls of royal favourite Fairmont Windsor Park to the sleek vibes of Dorsett Shepherd’s Bush, South Place Hotel, Andaz Liverpool Street and the opulent L’Oscar Holborn in London, these hotels are art galleries with room service.

Living the dream: Scan a QR code or visit the gallery’s website to buy pieces directly. Prices start at £250 for a print, grovegallery.com.
