WITH the weather getting nicer, it’s the perfect time to go on a special day out.
And though top attractions can be pricey, there are currently a few great ways to pay less.
Follow these tips . . .
WINNING TICKETS: From tomorrow until March 15, hundreds of National Lottery-funded venues across the country will be offering free or discounted entry as part of National Lottery Open Week.
You can get into the Eden Project in Cornwall for free or get 50 per cent off tickets to the Tower of London.
The National Trust, English Heritage and Historic Royal Palaces are also taking part.
Any National Lottery ticket, scratchcard or instant win game can be used to unlock the offers.
See the venues and offers at nationallotteryopenweek.com.
SAVE ON ANNUALS: Yearly passes can save you a great deal if you plan to visit more than once or twice in 12 months.
The Essential Merlin passes for attractions including Alton Towers, Legoland and Chessington World of Adventure are down from £139 to £99 until March 29.
KIDS’ PASS: Another way to save on selected theme parks is with a Kids’ Pass membership.
As part of the deal, you can get £15 tickets to Flamingo Land, 20 per cent off Blackpool Pleasure Beach and 15 per cent off Alton Towers’ web pricing.
You can try a Kids’ Pass membership for £1 for 30 days — and the savings can quickly outweigh this cost.
Just remember to cancel membership if you are buying tickets as a one-off treat or you’ll be charged an ongoing £3.99 a month. Join at kidspass.co.uk.
WOWCHER: If you are thinking of a day out, it’s always worth checking if there are any deals available on Wowcher.co.uk, which frequently has offers on shows and exhibitions.
For example, The National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket usually costs £15 entry, but buy through Wowcher and you can get in for £8.99 instead.
