A FORMER world youth darts champion has been found guilty of aggravated burglary.
Dubbed as the Mario Balotelli of darts, Corey Cadby, 30, stood trial in Australia‘s Supreme Court in Burnie this week.
He was tried regarding a vicious assault which left his uncle Dean Smart with a fractured skull in his Elizabeth Town home.
On Thursday evening, the jury found Cadby guilty of breaking into the home in the company of two others.
The court found him not guilty of the assault which led to Smart fracturing his skull.
Smart and his wife had told the jury they recognised their nephew’s voice and posture during the early morning break in.
Someone had struck Smart’s skull while he was in bed.
The jury was not satisfied that person was Cadby.
Born in Tasmania, Australia, Cadby won the 2016 World Youth Championship in Minehead, England.
Long before the time of Luke Littler, the Australian had the world at his feet after beating legend Phil Taylor at the age of 21.

He competed in PDC events and was runner-up on his tournament debut at the 2018 UK Open to Scotland’s World No14 Gary Anderson.
But Cadby gradually disappeared from the darts scene due to visa problems.
He had trouble travelling to Europe for major events due to his criminal record and drew comparisons to eccentric football star Mario Balotelli.
The former Manchester City and Liverpool striker is known for his off-field antics, often making headlines for the wrong reasons such as throwing darts at a youth-team player and letting off fireworks in his house.
Cadby made a brief comeback in 2023 when he regained his tour card at Q-school.
But a return to the PDC circuit never materialised and he soon had his card removed.
In an interview from 2024, Cadby said: “I did let a lot of people down at the end and I’m totally ashamed of that.
“Each day was so hard and that obviously led to alcohol. I was never one bit happy, I was actually depressed every day.
“I didn’t want to wake up and to be honest, there was thoughts of suicide on my mind.”
