Nardiello started his career at Manchester United, making four first-team appearances under Sir Alex Ferguson before leaving in 2005.

He made appearances alongside David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo during his time at Old Trafford.

The forward then joined Barnsley on a permanent deal, spending two years at the Yorkshire club and helping the team achieve promotion to the Championship in 2005/06.

He left Barnsley ahead of the 2007/08 season, joining QPR, but soon returned to Oakwell the same term.

It was there where Nardiello helped Barnsley to the FA Cup semi-finals, a run that included beating two Premier League giants.

Firstly, Nardiello started as Barnsley came from a goal down to beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield, captain Brian Howard scoring the all-important winner.

The Tykes then knocked out Chelsea in the quarter-finals, but the striker was an unused substitute in the game, before being knocked out by Cardiff in the semi-finals at Wembley.

After ending his career in 2017, Nardiello went on to become a financial adviser.

He explained to Jobs4football in 2020 why he went into working in that field.

Nardiello said: “I received bad advice when I was a player and lost a sum of money.

“It really hurt me and I am passionate about helping players look after their money properly, I feel there are a lot of cowboys out there trying to take advantage of players.”

He also works to help people feel financially stable when they plan for retirement or to invest, working with clients in a number of other different fields.

Born in England to former Wales international Donato Nardiello, he won three caps for the Welsh national team, appearing as a substitute against New Zealand, Bulgaria and Luxembourg.
