FORMER Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is a shock contender for the Wolves job after Gary O’Neil withdrew from the race.
The former Molineux chief had been tipped for a stunning return less than a year after being fired.

O’Neill held talks with Wolves following Vitor Pereira’s exit after the weekend defeat at Fulham.
But the Athletic claims O’Neill is no longer in the running after removing himself from the process.
And they add that Wolves could now look at a Premier League comeback for Dutch gaffer Ten Hag.
The FA Cup winner spent two-and-a-half years at United but was sacked in October 2024 and replaced by Ruben Amorim.
Ten Hag returned to manager with Bayer Leverkusen over the summer.
Yet that gig lasted just three matches before the Germans pulled the trigger.
It’s believed Ten Hag’s name has now been discussed internally at Wolves as they look to turn their season around.
But it remains to be seen whether he fancies a relegation battle, with the Midlands side yet to win a single match.

Other names in contention include ex-Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick and his replacement Rob Edwards.
Wolves next face Chelsea in a tough clash on Saturday.
They will be led by Under-21s boss James Collins and U18s head coach Richard Walker.
And a permanent appointment in the dugout is expected shortly.
