CHELSEA fans were stunned to see a big-money signing’s name appear in their latest development squad’s starting XI.
The junior Blues welcome their counterparts from Reading to Kingsmeadow this afternoon for a tasty Premier League 2 clash.
And fans were bamboozled to see Axel Disasi‘s name in the starting XI.
Scores of the Stamford Bridge faithful shared their thoughts on X after seeing the team sheet.
One wrote on X: “Disasi caught me by surprise.”
Another said: “£40million for this?”
And another said: “Disasi as in Axel Disasi?”
One remarked: Axel it’s been so long.”
Another chimed in: “Err, is that who I think it is.”
Chelsea forked out £39million for Disasi’s services in August 2023, signing him from Ligue 1 side Monaco.

The France international has failed to cement a place in the heart of Chelsea‘s defence and spent the second half of last season on loan with Aston Villa.
Disasi has yet to make an appearance for the first team this season, which could be a sign that Blues boss Enzo Maresca has deemed him to be surplus to requirements.
Blues fans were also stunned to see the name D.Washington on the Under-21s subs bench.
The Washington in question, however, isn’t named after Hollywood icon Denzel, he’s called Deivid.
The Brazilian forward joined the Blues in August 2023 from Santos on a seven-year deal.
But he’s failed to make any sort of impact in the first team, taking to the pitch a mere three times for the senior squad after failing to impress in his Training Days at Cobham.
