IF you’re firing up the grill and hosting a barbecue this bank holiday, you’ll need some great drinks to serve.
Grown-up slushies are perfect for sunny garden sessions, impressing your guests without emptying your wallet.
Here’s how to mix some tasty tipples at home . . .
SUGAR CRUSH: The cult favourite Ninja SLUSHi frozen drink maker is currently reduced from £349.99 to £329.99 at ninjakitchen.co.uk.
Or you can head to Robert Dyas and pick up the Slush Puppie slushie machine, down from £52.99 to £34.99.
It does a great job of making iced drinks for a fraction of the cost.
No slushie maker? No worries. A trusty blender also makes great iced drinks.
BERRY GOOD IDEA: Whip up an iced berry vodka with frozen fruit — the wonky kind is cheaper at the supermarket — and plenty of ice.
Then add shots of vodka. Go pro by using mint leaves and a squeeze of lemon juice for a budget cocktail that tastes incredible.
F-ROSE-N FUN: Take advantage of the Co-op wine deal running until September 2.
Choose three bottles from a selected range, including Angel’s Vine Mediterranean rosé, and save £5 when shopping in-store or at coop.co.uk.
Mix your rosé with ice, frozen strawberries, a dash of lemon juice and a teaspoon of sugar in a blender to create a delicious pale frosé.
SPEEDY SERVER: If you’re busy cooking for your BBQ and don’t have a lot of time, here’s a simple but refreshing solution.
Blend ice and a couple of packs of Shuda raspberry mojito flavour alcoholic sorbet (4 per cent ABV), £1 each from Iceland, for refreshing cocktails in minutes.
SOBER SIP: If you don’t drink, try a tropical slushie instead.
Pick up a bag of Asda’s frozen tropical smoothie mix with pineapples, mango and papaya and blend with Asda 100% pure coconut water, £2.46.
Add a squeeze of lemon or lime, and mint if you have it, to make at least six cocktails that taste like Pina Colada, but without the hangover.
