DETERMINED to see in 2026 tomorrow with a bang, but without blowing your budget?
You don’t have to shell out for overpriced venue tickets and sky-high taxi fares.
Here’s how to ring in the New Year at home . . .
GO FOR GLOW: Atmosphere is key, but you don’t need party decoration packs and balloons.
Simply dim the main lights and use every fairy light, tea light and candle you own to create a festive glow.
Use Spotify to make a great playlist, or put YouTube Party Hits on the TV.

And if you’ve got any wrapping ribbon left over from Christmas, turn it into some makeshift streamers by curling it with scissors and sticking it to the ceiling.
LOT OF BOTTLE: Insist your friends “bring a bottle” when they come over to celebrate.
It’s the golden rule of budget hosting and means everyone can enjoy their favourite drink — plus it’s a great way to use up any bottles of booze you were gifted over Christmas.
IN THE MIX: Make whatever is in your drinks cabinet work for you, by creating a signature cocktail.
A bottle of prosecco goes a long way when you add a dash of your favourite spirit, a drop of squash or elderflower cordial and a few frozen berries.
Or go big and make a punch with some fruit juice and any leftover spirits you have from Christmas Day.
POWER PLATTERS: Instead of splashing out on supermarket party platters, go for big-impact, low-effort boards and snack bowls.
A giant bowl of popcorn, a mountain of potato wedges with dips and a simple cheeseboard with some crackers and grapes will all look brilliant and won’t break the bank.
TOAST IT: If you want to raise a glass to 2026 with a special tipple at midnight, hit the shops today as from now until close of business tomorrow, there are some huge NYE drink deals to take advantage of.
A bottle of Louvel Fontaine Champagne is usually £19.98 at Asda, but is now £10.
And the Specially Selected Cremant de Loire — £8.99 a bottle at Aldi — will also go down a treat. Cheers!
