Five Albanian prisoners are jailed in the UK EVERY DAY, damning new figures reveal

FIVE more Albanian prisoners are jailed in the UK every day, a Sun on Sunday probe found.

Albanian nationals consistently make up the highest percentage of foreigners in UK jails — around nine per cent of the current 75,289 total.

Separate analysis by The Sun on Sunday shows that in the first three months of this year, 58 Albanians have been given sentences of at least a year for crimes ranging from drug offences to people smuggling.

Foreign national offenders who receive sentences of 12 months or more are automatically served with deportation orders after being locked up.

New laws set to be introduced by Labour will see some inmates deported a third of the way through their sentences — down from the current halfway mark.

How many more migrant crimes will it take before PM ends horror show?

Since the 2024 election Labour say more than 58,500 illegal migrants and foreign criminals have been removed or deported from the country.

The UK has a prison transfer agreement with Albania, meaning any Albanian handed a term of four years or more by a UK court will be sent back to their home country to serve their time.

A Ministry of Justice spokesperson said: “This Government has surged the deportation of foreign national offenders with more than 8,700 removed since July 2024 – up 32% on the 19 months prior

“On top of this, we are changing the law so foreign prisoners can be deported earlier than ever before.”
