Fitness influencer, 21, sparks fury after footage of her shouting ‘vile’ racist abuse at passersby in the street goes viral

A fitness influencer has been condemned for a vile racist rant she posted online.

Anya Chappell, 21, who has almost 70,000 TikTok followers, filmed herself walking along in a Sunderland shirt yelling racist insults at passersby.

Chappell is seen walking through a town centre yelling into the camera: ‘I want to smash some c*** into next week. We are making friends with all these p*** n*****s.’

A car is heard sounding its horn, which she appears to respond to, shouting back: ‘Aye f*** off, you f***er. Here, I am not being funny, no p*** is telling me what to do.’

The clip, which she posted on Snapchat, found its way onto X and was widely condemned.

Amir Ma, posting on the group Expose Racism, said: ‘The clip is publicly accessible and has already been widely shared online.

‘The language is openly racist and degrading toward black and South Asian communities.

‘Businesses that operate in diverse communities have a responsibility to ensure that the people representing them uphold basic standards of respect and professionalism.’

He called on a Sunderland gym, Fitness 2000, which is associated with Chappell, to take action against her.

The gym’s owner Les Ojugbana – who described himself as a ‘proud Nigerian’ – was quick to distance himself from her post, but called for restraint towards Chappell.

Les said: ‘We have had a lot of messages and phone calls regarding the young lady who made some vile racial remarks on her social media. We do not condone such statements.

‘Firstly, the young lady does not work at our site and she hasn’t for almost a year, she was a self-employed PT using our facilities for a short period of time.

‘Secondly and most importantly, I have not spoken to her, but I can guarantee she is probably very sorry for making such stupid drunken comments.

‘I’m not trying to defend her statement as what she said was vile and disgusting, but she’s a young lady with a future ahead of her, I’m hoping she has learned a very valuable lesson from this situation.

‘But please let’s let her be. I do not condone what she said, but we all make mistakes in life, especially the young, and I’m sure you all would not like to see your child or close family member attacked on social media because they made a silly mistake! It could lead to self-harm or something worse.

‘So please let’s stop the attack on her. The one without sin, cast the first stone.’

Chappell is a fervent Sunderland supporter and often posts about the club.

The day after the post, Sunderland supporters hoisted a Show Racism The Red Card banner at their home defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion, which was seen as a response to her clip going viral.

Other supporters called out her behaviour.

Posting on X, Sunderland fan Harry McBeth said: ‘The Anya Chappell video is grim. We only stamp it out by recognising it happens within our fanbase and we continue to call out the scumbags saying this s***.’

Chappell advertises her PT services at £27 per hour and describes herself as a fully qualified personal trainer who is also ‘fully qualified in sport nutrition.’

At the start of the year she thanked her clients for their support after what she described as a challenging 2025.

She posted: ‘Physically and mentally the most challenging year yet with so many highs and lows.

‘In 2026 I will never again take my health for granted again. One of the most important things I’ve learnt this year is that it’s OK to prioritise yourself and put yourself first because no one wants you to succeed more than YOU.

‘Thank you to every single person that’s supported my little business this year, whether that’s been in person, online, or even just a follow – I appreciate every single person.’

At her home in Sunderland, Anya Chappell was unavailable for comment. Her mother told the Daily Mail: ‘She does not want to say anything and wants to be left alone.’
