‘Fit and healthy’ father, 32, was joking around with work pals moments before he suddenly collapsed and died

A ‘fit and healthy’ father suddenly collapsed and died just moments after joking around with his work pals.

Ste Snell, 32, from Fazakerley, Liverpool, was a factory worker who often went to the gym and took his children swimming before he suffered a cardiac arrest and was found by his friends ‘lying on the floor’.

He was ‘having a joke with one of his work mates’ before the tragic incident that became the last day he would ever see his family.

The father-of-two died after he was air lifted to hospital and placed in a medically induced coma, with medics unable to keep his heart going for more than 40 seconds.

Attempts to save his life were futile – his organs started to fail and his family decided to turn off his life support.

The death came as a ‘shock’ to his best friend James Jones, who described the horrifying moment he found him ‘just lying on the floor’.

Mr Jones’ wife Jessica called the father-of-two ‘the best dad in the world’ who did ‘everything’ for his family.

‘They were his entire world. He doted on them, he was the best dad. He was the best brother and he adored his mum.

‘He was a fantastic partner, a brilliant friend and a massive Liverpool fan. He’d do anything for you. I can’t express how nice of a person he was. The world’s just a worse place without him. He’s so missed by everyone,’ she told the Liverpool Echo.

Mr Jones added: ‘Around ten minutes before he collapsed he was having a joke with one of his work mates, Kenny, just stood there laughing as they always do.

‘Kenny walked away from the machine to grab something and when he came back a minute or two later, Ste was just lying on the floor.’

They rang 999 and started doing chest compressions before using a defibrillator.

‘When the ambulance turned up, they took one look at him and instantly phoned for an air ambulance and then he got lifted to Broadgreen Hospital,’ Mr Jones said.

A GoFundMe has been set up by Mrs Jones to help provide financial support to the family and raise awareness for sudden cardiac arrest.

The page read: ‘We’re raising money to help our amazingly strong friend Michelle Carroll and her two beautiful children after the tragic loss of her partner and their dad Ste Snell.

‘Ste sadly passed away very suddenly which has turned Michelle’s and her children’s world upside down.

‘All funds raised will be used to help Michelle and her children try to rebuild their lives and hopefully take some financial worry away.

‘She has shown nothing but strength and we are all so incredibly proud of her!

‘Please everyone if you can dig deep and donate anything you can to support her and her family during the most difficult time of their lives we would really appreciate it! Thank you.’
