Fashion designer Antony Price, who dressed the likes of David Bowie and Queen Camilla, has died at the age of 80.
Rock band Duran Duran posted a statement on social media last night to mark the passing of their ‘dear friend’ and ‘important collaborator’ on Tuesday.
Keyboardist Nick Rhodes described Price as a’ visionary fashion designer, with extraordinary technical skills’.
He said: ‘I am deeply saddened to hear that my very dear friend Antony Price, passed away yesterday.
‘Nobody did glam better than Antony…
‘Inspired by old school Hollywood, he brought that style into a new era with a sharp sense of modernity and without ever forsaking elegance.
‘His designs were made to shine – whoever wore his clothes inevitably got the most attention in the room.’
Price’s salon show in London month saw fashion fans rave over singer Lily Allen’s ‘Diana revenge dress’ as she paid homage to Audrey Hepburn’s iconic Breakfast At Tiffany’s look.

The songstress was joined by a number of famous faces who had turned out to support Price’s first runway show in 36 years.
Whilst fans hailed the Hepburn homage as ‘iconic’ others pointed out that Lily’s gown resembled Princess Diana’s famous 1994 ‘revenge dress’ – a fitting look given the star’s recent revenge album.
Other popular looks from the night included Lila Moss’s silver feather dress – which featured a range of textured feathers and model Lara Stone’s racy display in a strapless animal print dress which boasted a daringly thigh-high cut split.
Price was famed for his theatrical styles and sculptured silhouettes including the pastel suits that featured in Duran Duran’s music video Rio.
Born in Yorkshire in 1945, he moved to London in the early 1960s before being tipped as a major new fashion talent in ‘Trendsetters’.
He began designing menswear at Stirling Copper and was the mastermind behind the body-hugging, buttoned trousers Sir Mick Jacker wore during The Rolling Stones’ Gimme Shelter tour in 1969.
Price founded his own label in 1979, staging his first fashion show a year later.
He also famously designed the jacket David Bowie – for whom he had been a long-standing collaborator – wore for his As The World Falls Down music video in 1986.

In the 1990s he began producing pieces for Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
Mr Rhodes said Price had been an ‘important collaborator from the very beginning’ for Duran Duran, perhaps most significantly conceiving and designing all the pastel coloured silk suits worn in the music video for Rio.
He concluded: ‘His distinctive creations were unique and striking. Whilst he rarely received the recognition he deserved from the fashion media, his notable clientele and many other designers all knew Antony was a genius, a cut above the rest.
‘He never failed to deliver. His swan song fashion show, just a few weeks ago was as spectacular and relevant as the first one I ever saw.
‘More than all of this, Antony was a loyal, kind, intelligent and razor-witted, friend.’
