Fans watching Saturday’s clash between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn spotted an awkward moment during the post-fight television coverage.
Eubank Jr beat Benn by unanimous decision at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after all three judges scored the contest 116-112 in his favour.
The fight reignited a family feud more than three decades after Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr battled to a bloody draw in their 1993 rematch, which came three years after Eubank Sr had won their first fight by TKO.
Both famous fathers were at Saturday’s event, with Eubank Sr making a dramatic entrance after widespread claims he would not be present.
Eubank Sr was also centre stage after the fight and featured in multiple TV interviews.
One of those interviews, which was broadcast live, directly preceded an awkward moment involving Eubank Jr’s promoter Ben Shalom.

After he had finished speaking with Eubank Sr, the interviewer walked towards Shalom, who appeared to nod his head in acknowledgement, signalling he was expecting to be asked for his instant reaction from the fight.
However, the reporter did not want to speak to Shalom and walked straight past him in the direction of Benn and his promotor Eddie Hearn.
Podcaster and boxing enthusiast Jack Carl Dean, better known as JaackMaate, posted a video of himself and his friends watching the awkward exchange to X (formerly Twitter), alongside the caption: ‘Not you Ben Shalom’, followed by 19 laughing emojis.
Among the comments on JaackMaate’s tweet was one that read: ‘Eubank’s stock increased after the fight, Shalom’s still at rock bottom’.
Another read: ‘He’s a comedy sketch, Shalom. Seems the most awkward guy’.
JackMaate was clearly not the only boxing fan who spotted this in real time because another reply read: ‘Laughed my head off when this happened’.
Earlier in the night, JackMaate had posted an old picture of himself with Eubank Jr next to the words: ‘LETS GO CHAMP’.
But despite making it clear he was backing Eubank Jr before the fight, JackMaate was hoping to see the judges call it a draw by the end.

He tweeted: ‘Normally I’m fuming at judges in boxing for calling fights a draw unfairly. This time around I’m actually gutted that wasn’t a draw…’
But Eubank Jr’s unanimous decision victory was underlined by the punch statistics, which showed that he landed more punches in every round.
Eubank Jr landed a total of 367 punches from 912 thrown, a connect rate of 40.2 per cent.
Benn, 28, landed 215 punches from 593 thrown, connecting at 36.3 per cent.
