Draper and his partner Jessica Pegula overcame Raducanu and rumoured love interest Carlos Alcaraz 4-2 4-2, with sets shortened for the new $1million event.

At the end of the match the two pairs shook hands and exchanged pleasantries at the net.

And viewers couldn’t help but notice a slightly awkward moment between Raducanu and compatriot Draper.

As Alcaraz and Pegula shared a short hug, the Brits stuck to a rather formal handshake.

Raducanu then did hug Pegula, and Alcaraz embraced Draper.

Fans were quick to speculate their was some tension in the air.

One fan wrote: “Ex vibes 😂”

Another added: “Raducanu didn’t want to hug Draper🤣”

Brit tennis star lets off blood curdling screech at US Open

There is no suggestion Raducanu, 22, and part-time model Draper, 23, have ever been romantically linked.

But former US Open single champion Raducanu did have to respond to rumours she is dating Alcaraz which began swirling during Queen’s Club and Wimbledon this summer.

The British No1 said: “I guess I’m like, it comes with the territory, people being so curious.

“I think they’re more curious about this news than any tennis results and tennis news.

“But I just keep myself to myself, my private life to one side.

“It’s always funny when people try to find something out, but I try not to read into it so much.”

Raducanu has enjoyed a resurgence this season, rising up to 35th in the women’s single rankings.

But she narrowly missed out on being a seed for US Open singles event which begins next week in New York.

Draper will be fifth seed for the men’s event as he targets a first Grand Slam title.
