AN ex-rugby pro beat up two bailiffs who came to repossess his home — claiming he was a “freeman of the land” and not subject to UK law.
Richard Skuse punched Nicholas Rhode and son Matthew as they changed door locks in January.
Skuse punched Matthew in the face, leaving him with a bloody nose.
He then hit Nicholas in the face, breaking his glasses into four pieces, the court heard.
Matthew said: “He had closed fists and my first thought that came to mind was this is going to hurt.”
He said Skuse hit him three times and he defended himself by putting Skuse on the ground to restrain him.
But Skuse said he had been assaulted and had a tooth knocked out – albeit a false one.
The ex-London Irish and Saracens prop, 45, arrived in court draped in a flag and wearing a paper crown but was told to remove them.
He told magistrates in Bristol: “It is a private residence. They have got no authority to be there.”
Skuse clutched a Bible as he denied owing any money to Nationwide.
He said: “My signature created that money.
“I am the creditor, not the debtor.
“Possession is nine-tenths of the law.”
He denied two assaults, claiming self-defence, but was found guilty after a trial and was bailed for sentencing at a later date.
