Youngster has memorable evening
Bradley Brooks got his first European tour win in almost two years.
He took an impressive lead but Joe Cullen fought back and it ended up going to a deciding leg.
With both players missing plenty of doubles, Brooks took his chance to book his place to face Nathan Aspinall in the next round.
German continues recent impressive form
Niko Springer came into his match with Dirk van Duijvenbode knowing that he had never before beaten his opponent.
Breaking the Dutchman’s throw in the first leg seemed to be the pivotal moment to change all of that.
Springer went on to secure a convincing 6-1 victory to carry on his recent impressive form from last weekend.
He will play Chris Dobey in the next round.
Leverkusen crowd on top form
Despite some of the action not being awe-inspiring this afternoon, it took a big improvement tonight.
Bradley Brooks survived five match darts for the real upset of the evening as he dumped out Luke Woodhouse.
Many players showed glimpses of what they are all about and we have some interesting ties to look forward to tomorrow.
While we cannot guarantee the quality, one thing that is for sure, this 2,500 crowd will be as rowdy as ever.
Irishman books place in next round
It was a professional performance from Daryl Gurney as he coasted to a 6-2 victory over Richard Veenstra.
The Dutchman just could not improve his record against Gurney this evening.
Now Gurney will face Gian van Veen in tomorrow’s action.
Daryl Gurney beats Richard Veenstra 6-2
Daryl Gurney 6-2 *Richard Veenstra
Gurney is having too many trebleless visits now.
He manages to get to a finish first but misses the bullseye for a 164 out.
Veenstra cannot take advantage and Gurney hits double 8 to take the leg and the match.
