Enzo Maresca breaks silence on Chelsea sacking in 133-word statement as he shares poignant picture

ENZO Maresca has said his goodbyes to the Chelsea fans after his New Year’s Day departure from Stamford Bridge.

The former Blues boss penned a letter to supporters around the world on his Instagram account, on the day his replacement, Liam Rosenior, was announced.

The carousel of pictures posted by Maresca included one in particular that seemed poignant.

Three pictures in, is one of Maresca, which seems to be taken by a fan, applauding his team while they lift the Club World Cup trophy.

Though the Italian boss is noticeably stood away from his players, and from Donald Trump amid the celebrations in the USA.

His statement starts with a quote often attributed to the founder of the scouting movement, Robert Baden-Powell, and reads: “LEAVE THIS WORLD A LITTLE BETTER THAN YOU FOUND IT”

The comments section of the post was flooded with gratitude from Chelsea fans, after many players paid their individual thanks to him on social media in the past few days.

Robert Sanchez was the first to do so, followed by the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Reece James among others – though there has been radio silence from Cole Palmer.
