‘Entitled’ woman chucks suitcase down iconic stone steps – and people say she’s the reason people hate tourists

A US TOURIST has caused chaos abroad with her unconventional way of carrying her suitcase – and people are raging.

The viral clip – posted by digital creator @lenamoriarty – has left users fuming after a heavy suitcase was tackled down some iconic stone stairs in a very random way.

In the popular tourist destination of Croatia, the holiday-maker was seen booting her luggage down some steep steps – and viewers are not happy.

The woman appears in the TikTok clip, standing at the top of a long stone staircase with a suitcase in tow.

Rather than carrying it down the old-fashioned way, she kicks the holdall down the Croatian hill, letting it roll at speed on its own.

Viral TikTok trend

The polarising clip is set to the infamous sound of Jess Glynne’s track Hold My Hand alongside the words ‘Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday’ – which has become a cult classic over the summer.

The original post was shared on July 25 and has since clocked up more than 20 million views.

“The fact that this has gone viral 4x, accumulated 20 million views and ended up on the Croatian news.”

Lena Moriarty justified: “All because my mom yeeted her suitcase down the steps.”

Social media reacts

Users commented: “Our stonework is hundreds (if not thousands) of years old. What in the entitlement is this?! Don’t come back, thanks.”

“Reason why locals hate tourists – lack of respect and class,” berated a second.

“How are you not embarrassed to post this?” queried a third.

“Don’t we just love a tourist who damages the walkways instead of carrying their weight!??” mocked a fourth.

“If you don’t respect a place, don’t visit. That stonework is older than a country you came from. Respect a culture and architecture of a place you visit and show some good behave towards it,” condemned a fifth.

“You are both the reason that the USA has the stereotypes that it does,” barked another.

“This is in my city and it’s straight up peasant behaviour. Imagine the suitcase hit someone at the bottom of the stairs, like come on, lady, act civil…” reacted another angry user.

“Embarrassing,” a user simply commented.

“Take her passport away from her,” urged another.

“This is why we don’t like tourists,” stated a blunt user.

“People like you are the reason I can’t go abroad without instantly feeling like I’m hated,” penned another unhappy viewer.

“So if an older person or a small child was coming up the stairs and your heavy suitcase hits them, are you prepared to be arrested? This is how tourists get a bad name. Completely inconsiderate,” shamed another follower.

The family explained to Newsweek previously that they had been rushing to leave their Airbnb when the incident happened.

The visitor defended: “The amount of steps in Croatia to get to our Airbnb was insanity. So the only reasonable solution we saw while leaving in a rush was to toss our bags down the stairs.”

It comes after holidays to America are set to get even more expensive, as the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) fee rise date is announced.

From September 30, Brits heading off to the US will need to pay more for their ESTA.

The hike comes as part of President Donald Trump‘s ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’.
