England’s route to the 2025 Women’s Euros Final: Lionesses will avoid World Champions until the final but face tough quarter-final opponent

After stumbling in the first game against France, England have come rifling back and booked their spot in the quarter finals of the 2025 Women’s Euros.

The defending champions cruised past Wales to make it through Group D, with Georgia Stanway opening the scoring for the Lionesses by calmly slotting home a penalty in the 13th minute.

Wiegman’s sides opening loss to France and the fact Les Bleus have won all of their three games in the tournament does mean the Lionesses finish Group D as runners-up.

But that may not be a bad thing and actually might favour Leah Williamson and co as it means they won’t face tournament favourites Spain until the final.

That being said, the England women still have a way to go before thinking of who the may or may not be facing in the final.

Here is the Lionesses potential route to the 2025 Women’s Euros final.

First up, they will face Group D winners Sweden in the quarter-finals on Saturday, July 17th in Zurich.

Sweden topped Group D after a dominant display over 10-player Germany in their final game of the group stage to finish top of their table.

If they overcome the defensively strong Swedes, they will then come up against Italy or Norway in the semi-finals.

Norway unconvincingly won all three matches to top Group A whilst Italy finished as runners-up in a wide open Group B after beating Belgium, drawing with Portugal and losing to Spain

The Lionesses would then come face-to-face with the World Cup champions and tournament favourites Spain in the final on Sunday, July 27.
