THE winners of the best hotels in the country have been revealed and one in the English countryside has bagged top spot.
AA Hospitality Awards has announced the “best and brightest in British hospitality” including a beautiful hotel found in the grounds of the historic Chatsworth House.
The Cavendish Hotel has won the AA Hospitality Award for Hotel of the Year in England.
The hotel calls itself a “countryside escape” and is found on the Chatsworth estate surrounded by fields.
It’s a four-star hotel that has 28 rooms, two restaurants and of course, incredible views across the Peak District.
Guests get a choice of cosy, spacious, splendid rooms which start from £220 per night.
There’s an additional cost for breakfast and dining experiences.
The most luxurious of stays is in the ‘Townhouse’ accommodation which visitors can access through a private entrance.
The suite is over two floors and has a sitting room, dining area, two bathrooms and a king-size bed which starts from £489 per night.
For dining, there are a few options from The Gallery Restaurant which has 3 AA Rosettes.
Guests can dine on mains like lamb, sole or a beef wellington to share, or there’s the ’10 Mile Tasting Menu’ with five courses for £75 per person.
The Garden Room is a bright and airy conservatory-style space that’s more of an informal dining space, and it’s where they serve Sunday sandwiches.
Guests can also enjoy afternoon tea with finger sandwiches, scones and a selection of tea or coffee.
In the summertime, the terrace is the best place to eat as it has views of the rolling hills of Chatsworth.
Every guest staying at The Cavendish Hotel has access to the health and fitness club at Chatsworth which holds treatments, classes and guests can use its 15metre swimming pool and gym.
Guests who opt for an additional package can also get a private guided tour of Chatsworth House – a stately home built in the 1600s that also featured as Pemberley in the 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
It’s not the first award that The Cavendish Hotel has won either, earlier in the year, it won ‘Hotel of the Year’ by The Times.
The publication revealed their list of the top 100 hotels in the country – and it came out as number one, again.
The other winners of Hotels of the Year by the AA include 1 Hotel Mayfair in London, and St Brides Spa Hotel in Pembrokeshire.
100 Princes Street in Edinburgh scooped up the award for Scotland, and The Old Inn won in County Down.
Meanwhile, Travel Reporter Cyann Fielding stayed at the AA award-winning B&B of the year, and here’s what she made of it.
“The 25 Boutique B&B is just moments away from Torre Abbey Sands – 10 minutes’ walk to be precise. With such a location, it is hardly surprising the venue earned the award.
“Inside, I was immediately greeted by funky interiors with every colour under the sun. The welcoming entrance is enhanced by one of the B&B’s hosts, who was there to greet me.”
Cyann stayed in the Shoalstone Suite, which is found on the ground floor next to a decadently decorated lounge with an honesty bar.
The suite has a lounge area with a plush sofa, TV, dressing table, bistro table, kettle and Nespresso coffee machine – and there was also a bedroom, and ensuite.
Cyann added: “It was kitted out with an Alexa so you could control the lighting with ease and ask travel related queries like what the weather was like in the bay.
“The B&B makes a great base for exploring south Devon‘s beaches and Torquay’s neighbouring towns – including Paignton, Brixham, Babbacombe and Newton Abbot.
“And just down the road there is also the best fish and chip shop in the UK – Pier Point.”
