EMMERDALE bosses have teased a huge twist when it comes to a fan-favourite couple.
Viewers of the ITV soap were left hopeful of a reunion after Charity Dingle let slip a telling remark in a special episode centred on two characters.
It came during Emma Atkins’ character’s chat with cousin Cain Dingle, who is currently facing an agonising battle with cancer.
The character has been pushing most of his family away as a result of the pressures facing him amid his illness, yet made time for a chat with his pregnant cousin Charity.
After a bizarre moment in the conversation where he attempted to bed her, talk turned to her former lovers.
Cain stated in the two-hander Emmerdale episode: “I was the best you had.”
Charity then told him: “You wish. Yeah, you were good, but I’ve had better.”
She then expanded on who she meant, sparking hopes of a reunion despite the fact she is with Mackenzie.
Charity added: “Vanessa, if you must know.
“She might have a wardrobe full of jumpers but she definitely knows what she’s doing in the sack.”
Back in 2018, the pair finally enjoyed a kiss after declaring their feelings for each other.
As the pair enjoyed a steamy snog, fans took to Twitter to delight in a new couple in the Dales and even gave them the nickname “Vanity”.
Yet in 2020 the pair sadly split after Charity cheated on her.
Actress Emma then confirmed the pair were over for good – leaving fans devastated.
Yet does her new off-hand comment mean there’s more to come for the pair?

In fact, it was Charity’s current partner Mackenzie who played a role in their downfall.
Mackenzie has been a bad influence on Charity ever since he arrived in the village, kissing her on the side of the road when his car broke down and sabotaging Charity’s relationship with Vanessa.
Charity and Mackenzie then paired up to carry out a life of crime together, flirting along the way.
The pair then married in 2023, but their relationship has been rocked by a series of issues.
