A DWARF influencer has died just days after his 33rd birthday with a heartbreaking message to his fans.
Alejo Little, real name David Alejandro Peláez Marín, had opened up about his struggles in an emotional post that would become his last.
The social media star, who stood at just under three feet (90cm), had nearly 4million TikTok followers and a further 300,000 on Instagram.
Alejo lived with skeletal dysplasia, a genetic condition affecting bone growth and development.
Despite his challenges, he built a huge following by sharing humorous videos about his life and by speaking out about the bullying he suffered as a child.
His bio summed up his positive outlook on life, as he wrote: “I’m 90cm tall and nothing has been too big for me.”
Born in Medellín, Colombia, Alejo also worked as a graphic designer and motivational speaker, inspiring several people with his story.
But in recent months, fans grew concerned after he appeared on livestreams using supplemental oxygen.
During chats, he revealed he was going through a medical process but never shared details about his condition.
On February 10, the influencer posted a deeply emotional birthday message.
Alejo said: “I thought my 33rd birthday was going to be different, but it wasn’t.
“I only ask life to let me be myself again, to find meaning in my days again, and for my mind to be healthy so I can continue helping others despite my loneliness.
“Because I thank God for my small support network, the best one, the one that is saving me.”
He added: “Happy Birthday Alejo, I promise you that next year will be just as you dreamed, with those who are saving you today.”
It was his final Instagram post.
The exact cause of his death has not yet been reported.
Alejo has since been laid to rest in Medellín, where he spent most of his life and career.
Heartbroken loved ones paid tribute, with one family member saying: “I love you and will always love you.
“Every achievement in my life will be for you.
“I feel a great emptiness of my life, I will miss you every day and I will remember you in every achievement and with every laugh.”
What is skeletal dysplasia?
SKELETAL dysplasia is a group of genetic conditions that affect how bones and cartilage grow.
It often results in short stature, with some people measuring significantly below average height.
The condition can also cause differences in limb length, joint problems and changes to the shape of the spine or skull.
There are more than 400 types of skeletal dysplasia, ranging from mild to severe.
Some forms mainly affect height and appearance, while others can lead to serious health complications, including breathing difficulties and mobility issues.
Skeletal dysplasia is usually present from birth and is caused by changes in genes that control bone development.
While there is no cure, treatment can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life, depending on the type and severity of the condition.
