As the seasons change, keeping on top of household chores can become tricky – especially with laundry taking longer to dry in colder temperatures.

Unfortunately, the most obvious solution – the tumble dryer, is one of the most costly household appliances, and can contribute to high energy bills.

Heated airers are usually far less energy-guzzling, and as the Black and Decker Winged Heated Airer is now on sale, it could be an all-round cheaper alternative.

The practical design consists of 18 heated bars, offering 11.5 metres of drying space, so it works for clothes and towels, or you could keep it free for laying bedding on top to dry.

Despite plenty of drying space, the winged design folds up completely flat, so when it’s not in use, you can tuck it away against a wall or in utility cupboard.

The concept is simple – the bars heat up and provide a boost to wet laundry, while being gentle enough not to cause any damage to clothing.

Its’ size is large (and strong enough) to hold a full 10kg laundry load, without clothes overlapping or being too crammed together.
