Desperate club calls in a FAITH HEALER in bizarre bid to cure disastrous injury crisis

A CRICKET club has taken desperate measures to end a nightmare injury crisis – after turning to a FAITH HEALER.

Kent finished bottom of Division Two in each of the last two seasons after suffering relegation from the County Championship’s top-flight.

A string of absences resulted in there being struggles to put out a side capable of snatching victories.

And Kent head coach Adam Hollioake has revealed that a last-ditch attempt was made to stop key men facing lengthy periods on the sidelines.

The former England all-rounder, 54, told The Cricketer: “We got a faith healer in over the winter, or a spirit healer.

“I’m not sure what the exact title was, but we got someone to warden off the evil spirits.”

Kent also confirmed that a “non-denominational geopathic surveyor” headed to Canterbury in the winter.

A club statement read: “This visit was conducted to support the promotion of positive wellbeing ahead of the new season.

“The club’s approach to player welfare and injury prevention remains firmly rooted in professional sports science, including its strength and conditioning programmes, medical support, physiotherapy, and carefully managed training schedules.

“The visit did not replace, or have any influence over, any of these established practices.”

Kent were forced to bring in two players on loan and another three from overseas because a shortage of bowlers hit them for six.

And they have notched just three County Championship wins in the past two seasons because of the injury crisis.

Kent will get their domestic season underway with a long trip to Durham on April 3.

They will be back on home soil at the St Lawrence Ground for the first time since the faith healer’s visit when they host Northamptonshire on April 10.

England opening batsman Zak Crawley is among the names in Kent’s squad.
