Every culture is supposed to be celebrated, except, of course, our own.
Americans are right to celebrate our immigrant heritage and our willingness to invite others in to share the bounty of our society, but we have lost the cultural self-confidence to remind newcomers–and ourselves–that America is such an inviting country because our shared culture is worth sharing and promoting.
Islamists in Dearborn, Michigan, openly say they want to destroy America.

American culture is what makes America great, not “diversity.” Diversity is not our strength–our culture is. Anybody from anywhere is welcome to participate, provided they accept our cultural norms and our laws. If they pick up the common language, the shared values, and contribute to the overall well-being of the society, we all benefit.
I well up when I see citizenship ceremonies. Most Americans do because, with the right attitude, it’s like welcoming a new person into the family.
But if the new person comes in vowing to destroy the family and remake it in their image, they are an interloper. An invader. They are not an in-law, but an enemy.
In Islamized Dearborn, the double standard is undeniable.
A 27-year-old non-Muslim was dragged from his home and jailed over a reckless Facebook post – yet Muslims march by the thousands chanting “Death to America” and glorifying Hezbollah without a single arrest.

Too many recent migrants have come to America with hate in their hearts and plunder in mind. And many liberal-minded folks are ashamed to stand up and defend our country and our culture. They are, in the end, happy to sacrifice what makes America great in order to maintain the illusion that other cultures deserve as much or more respect than our own.

The irony is, of course, that the excuse for allowing this invasion is that the new migrants are “refugees” from broken societies. True enough, but the corollary is that we ensure America doesn’t become broken by migrants importing that broken culture to America.
If those countries are too awful to live in, then anybody from them should shed every vestige of what made them fall apart. If they want the benefits of being an American, then become more American than everybody else.
That has been true of most immigrants, who are among the most patriotic citizens we have. They came here because they wanted what we have–freedom and a chance at the American Dream.
Importing the ills of the third world will destroy this country. That doesn’t mean keeping everybody out–but it does mean wholeheartedly rejecting the values that destroyed the countries they came from.
