DAVID Harbour seems to be putting his drama with ex-wife Lily Allen to the side as he’s landed his next big movie role.
Lily, 40, released her ‘revenge’ album, West End Girl last month and on the record, she appeared to accuse him of having an affair with a woman she calls Madeline.
However, it doesn’t look like David, 50, is harbouring on his ex-wife’s claims as it’s now been revealed that he is all set to star in a true crime thriller film about an “infamous case”.
Friends icon Courteney Cox will be directing the film, titled Evil Genius, and it will also star Patricia Arquette alongside David.
According to Deadline, the script takes inspiration from Netflix’s true crime documentary series of the same name that released in 2018.
It tells the story of the infamous “pizza bomber” case as it follows pizza delivery driver Brian Wells, who attempts to rob a bank with mastermind Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong.
The logline for the project reads: “This baffling true-crime story starts with the grisly death of a pizza man who robs a bank with a bomb around his neck — and gets weirder from there.”
As well as David and Patricia, the film also stars Michael Cernus, Danielle Macdonald, Garrett Dillahunt, Tom McCarthy and Gregory Alan Williams.
Rounding out the cast are Owen Teague, Ryan Eggold and Harlow Jane.
Speaking in a statement, Courteney expressed: “I’ve been fascinated by Evil Genius since I first saw the documentary. It’s stranger than fiction. At moments darkly funny and yet deeply emotional.
“A story about love, loneliness, manipulation, and the people on the fringes who get pulled into something much bigger than themselves.”
Stranger Things star David got married to singer Lily, 40 in Las Vegas in 2020 before moving from London to the US.
MARRIAGE BREAKDOWN
However, in December friends confirmed they had split after living “separate lives” for months.
The Smile crooner allegedly found his “secret profile” on a dating app.
David has found himself in the headlines for all the wrong reasons recently, after Lily dropped ‘revenge’ album West End Girl last month.
On the album, Lily appeared to accuse her ex of having an affair with a woman named Madeline, as mentioned in songs Tennis and Madeline.
On the track Tennis, Lily sings: “So I read your text, and now I regret it.
“I can’t get my head round how you’ve been playing tennis. If it was just sex I wouldn’t be jealous
“You won’t play with me and who the f*** is Madeline?”
Writing on social media, one fan said: “Madeline – the Becky with the Good Hair of West End Girl – doesn’t escape unscathed.”
Another said: “Lily Allen dropping a whole song confronting the other woman named Madeline.”
And, referencing Dolly Parton’s iconic hit, a third added: “We got Jolene, Becky with the Good Hair and now Madeline.”
David is still yet to address the claims made on the album but has previously mentioned “slip-ups” he’s made in recent years.
The Netflix star said in an interview: “I would change either everything or nothing.
“You either accept your path completely and realise that even the pain and the slip-ups and the mistakes are all part of the journey, and that there’s truth and growth, wisdom and deeper empathy and connection in all that.
“It’s kind of like a house of cards, the minute you try to change one thing you kind of have to change it all.”
