Emergency services scrambled to the scene and Ben was rushed to hospital in a critical condition but he tragically died two days later.

Greater Manchester Police launched a probe into the violent alleged assault and arrested three men in connection with the incident.

All three were in their 20s, cops said.

They were brought into custody on suspicion of section 18 assault and bailed pending further inquiries.

Today, cops confirmed that a murder investigation has now been launched.

It is alleged the reported attack outside the pub had “involved several men.”

A cordon has remained in place around the bar as forensic officers scour the scene for evidence.

Tributes have since flooded in for Ben, who was described by pals as a “beautiful human being.”

Grieving friends said Ben would “never be forgotten” and added that he was a “kind-hearted soul.”

The pub, Dessie’s Place, issued a statement via social media in the wake of the reported assault.

It read: “It’s with heavy hearts we share the sad news that our dear friend Ben has passed away.

“Ben wasn’t just someone who worked with us; he was part of our family.

“He loved the pub, the people in it, and all the regulars who walked through those doors.

“He was one of us… not just a regular, but one of the best, and everybody knew and loved him.

“His smile, his laugh, and his presence brought so much life into the place, and it simply won’t be the same without him.

“We will miss him more than words can ever say, and he will never ever be forgotten.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family at this incredibly difficult time and we’re sending love right to you.”

Cops continue to appeal for information as their murder probe gets underway.

At the time of the incident Detective Chief Inspector Helen Bagnall, from our Salford district, said: “This is a shocking incident and our thoughts are firmly with the victim and his family during this extremely difficult time.

“We are working at pace and remain absolutely committed to identifying everyone involved and bringing those responsible to justice.

“Three arrests have been made in connection with this incident, and we are continuing to appeal for further information.

Officers remain committed to understand the full circumstances and are urging anyone with information to come forward to support our investigation.”
