I can only assume this is an indictment of blue state governance in general. In one place where it happened, you hear about such things often with an overwhelmed and officially castrated police force trying ineffectually, if at all, to keep the mayhem as contained as possible. Risking life and limb on the scene while knowing any miscreants they scoop up are going free if officers waste time trying to book them for damages or assaults.
That would be Los Angeles.
Where, in a fit of pique after an illegal, vacant warehouse party of some sort was cancelled, disappointed attendees took their frustration out on the neighborhood, the local Metro train, and the unfortunate Los Angeles police department officers called to the scene.
More than 300 hooligans took to the streets of Los Angeles, vandalizing buildings and Metro buses after their unpermitted rooftop concert in an abandoned building was canceled.

Turns out more than a thousand unhappy party-goers hit the streets after being disappointed by the cancellation, handling it completely like civilized human beings handle most minor changes in plans. It also seems to me that these ‘concert-goers’ had an unseemly supply of unusual materials one might not normally carry to a musical event. Readily available supplies for doing ‘other things’ like spray painting and launching small incendiary devices?
Kind of makes you wonder what after-the-concert plans they had, doesn’t it?
…It’s unclear why dozens of people converged at the intersection just south of downtown Los Angeles, but some were dressed to party, wearing pink platform heels and cat ears, according to video shot by news outlet OnScene.TV. A man gulped from a jug filled with a flammable liquid that he spat onto a torch, throwing flames into the night sky.
…The crowd’s attention turned to an A Line train, which had stopped along its route on Washington Boulevard. According to the video, vandals within the crowd began spray-painting the train and hammering on the windows.
The Los Angeles Police Department was alerted at 12:12 a.m. Sunday by a caller who said five people had entered a train car and were vandalizing the interior, said Officer Kevin Terzes, an LAPD spokesperson.
Video showed dozens of LAPD officers massed in a skirmish line across the street from the mob, gripping black and green riot guns that fire foam rounds.
At 12:19 a.m., the LAPD received another call of people being “disruptive” on a train at Washington Boulevard and Trinity Street, Terzes said.
The officer said no one was arrested in connection with either call. It was unclear whether, separately, the LAPD arrested anyone in a group shown on video spray-painting the facades of a Panda Express, Waba Grill, dialysis center and medical clinic.
Some in the crowd posed for selfies next to a spray-painted LAPD cruiser. They cursed at the officers, hurled a firework and kicked at the police car as the officers drove away, according to the video.
The rampaging party crowd physically blocked trains, spray-painted both the trains and the police cars, and launched fireworks at officers among other activities.
Lawless Los Angeles early Sunday morning, where 1,000 thugs wreaked havoc on the city, vandalizing and blocking trains, launching illegal fireworks, and assaulting police officers, sending one to the hospital after they got hit in the face with a bottle.

DOZENS OF LAPD OFFICERS – NOT A SINGLE ARREST
The mayhem continued unabated and unintimidated by the presence of LA’s finest, as if the mob knew police were powerless. An impression that was only confirmed when ‘officers started to DRIVE AWAY.’
WHUT
…Video from the scene obtained by KTLA shows dozens of vandals punching the slow-moving Metro train and spray painting it as it came to a halt.
“Around midnight, approximately 50 trespassers blocked two A Line trains traveling northbound and southbound at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Maple Street, south of downtown Los Angeles,” Metro said in a statement given to KTLA. “The trespassers began to spray paint on both trains and gained entry into the southbound train and sprayed paint on the interior of the train. During the incident, no operators or passengers were harmed and service was delayed around 20 minutes.”
Several individuals were also seen vandalizing an LAPD squad car – even posing for pictures in front of it, shooting fireworks at it, kicking it and spray painting it as the officers started to drive away. Many of those who were not actively engaging in the vandalism were recording the chaos on their cell phones.
But it’s okay, I guess, as no operators or passengers on the train were ‘harmed.’ They were only terrified and terrorized within an inch of their lives.
Not actually, you know, ‘harmed.’
Good God.
But be comforted, gentle citizens, Metro riders, and business owners – LAPD is ‘investigating’ from the safety of their headquarters downtown. Worthless Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is ensuring that everyone knows this is simply unacceptable behavior.
Not bad enough for her to do a damn thing about. Just bad enough that she doesn’t appreciate the bad press.
After a crowd of more than 1,000 people caused a mayhem in the downtown Los Angeles neighborhood Saturday night, investigators are now poring over surveillance images and social media posts to track down those responsible, especially people who vandalized countless businesses as well as an LAPD car and Metro trains.
…Mayor Karen Bass said the chain of destructive events began as an illegal party at a vacant warehouse after participants were recruited online.
“This type of behavior is completely unacceptable,” Bass said in a statement, pledging to work closely with the City Attorney and the District Attorney to hold those responsible to the fullest extent of the law.
Did you know LAPD has an illegal party suppression task force?
It seems to be about as effective as the mayor.
…The LAPD’s Newton-area Illegal Party Suppression Unit, who monitors illegal gatherings, first detected the gathering and alerted multiple bureaus to respond to the incident.
…No one was arrested linked to the case as of Monday.
I did say both coasts, and I meant it, although it makes me sad.
Now, growing up, we always went to Wildwood or Atlantic City – that’s the boardwalk of my memories.
But plenty of my friends spent years going to Seaside and Seaside Heights, New Jersey, for their de rigueur summer trip to ‘the Shore‘ and have carried the tradition on with their children and grandchildren. Boardwalks, carnival atmosphere, yummy little shops of all the oceany treats kids dream of, and lots of families.
I’m afraid I wouldn’t recognize this place.

Seventy-three arrests on the Boardwalk alone?!
Multiple fights, stabbings, and at least 73 people were arrested in Seaside Heights between 6 a.m. Friday and 6 a.m. on Memorial Day, police said.
Those arrests included 52 adults and 21 juveniles.
Three young adults were stabbed all within one block of the Seaside Heights boardwalk, police said.
None of the victims are cooperating with police and no arrests have been made, police said.
Police said a gun was also recovered from a 21-year-old Beachwood man.
Police responded to several fights, more than half a dozen stabbings were reported over the long weekend an local police had to call for reinforcements from other agencies.
This is a little-bitty town, for God’s sake. What the hell is going on?

The beloved boardwalk is now closed thanks to the mob.
A series of violent incidents marred the Memorial Day weekend in Seaside Heights, leading to multiple injuries, including stabbings, and prompting authorities to enforce curfews and deploy additional law enforcement personnel.
The unrest prompted the Seaside Heights Police Chief to close the boardwalk and order all businesses to close around midnight.
As of early morning on Memorial Day, Monday, there has been no official announcement regarding the reopening of the Seaside Heights boardwalk following its closure around midnight due to unrest.
The Seaside Heights Police Department and borough officials have not yet provided updates on when the boardwalk and local businesses will resume operations today.
The unrest began Friday evening and escalated through Sunday night, with several altercations reported along the boardwalk.
On Saturday, an 18-year-old woman was stabbed near the Sunset Motel on Webster Avenue. She was airlifted to a trauma center for treatment.
Sunday evening saw further violence, including a stabbing near EJ’s and a large fight near the Prime Time Arcade.
Witnesses reported groups of individuals engaging in physical altercations, leading to a heightened police presence.
Years of traditional family summers and year-long planning for the holiday squelched in one ugly weekend.
The nearby Aberdeen Police Benevolent Association released a statement blasting Gov Phil Murphy and the NJ Attorney General for the chaos.
Aberdeen PBA releases statement on Seaside Heights Destruction
“Once again, the streets of Seaside Heights are being turned into a battleground of chaos, disorder, and disrespect — and once again, police officers are left to clean up the mess with nothing more than lip service from the leaders in Trenton.
Let us be absolutely clear: the recent surge of violence, large-scale unruly crowds, and blatant disregard for the law is not a surprise. It is the predictable result of policies that have handcuffed law enforcement, empowered lawbreakers, and ignored the safety and quality of life of our communities.
Governor Murphy and Attorney General Platkin — your failure to act decisively in the face of growing lawlessness is an insult to the men and women who wear the badge and to every resident and business owner in Seaside Heights and throughout this state. Your reluctance to support tougher enforcement, your silence in the face of repeated public safety breakdowns, and your misguided priorities have emboldened the very behavior you claim to oppose. Simply put, while you’re making political theatre the state is falling apart.
The people of New Jersey deserve better. Our officers are outnumbered, overworked, and constantly second-guessed — not by the public, but by the political class that refuses to stand behind them.
We call on the Governor and Attorney General to immediately address the public safety crisis in Seaside Heights and across our shore communities. That means more officers, stronger penalties, real consequences for lawbreakers, and the full backing of the state’s highest offices — not politically motivated restraints that tie the hands of law enforcement.
It’s time for our so-called leaders to either back the badge or get out of the way. We stand with the members of theSeaside Heights Police Departmentt. It would be nice to see the political class in Trenton do the same.”

It’s more proof of the virulence of the blue-state virus.
Nothing improves, nothing is sacred, and there’s no standard of living but downward.
