Man, these guys passed ‘goofy’ and ‘outrageous’ a long time ago, and went straight into demented, desperate lunatic ravings.
I guess when you’re a colorless, inner-fireless, charisma-free party apparatchik like Chuck Schumer, having to fight for your very existence for the first time in your political life against an on-coming swarm of out-of-control, flamboyant, drop-mic-moment mouthy, blood-thirsty, ill-mannered progressive monsters, suddenly having to fight for primacy would not make for your best moments.
I mean, haven’t you already earned that after more than three decades wearing a donkey suit in the halls of Congress and the Senate?
But the flashy, trashy youngsters lacking any measurable intelligence and zero gravitas now have maximum pressure on the old guys. The problem is that entrenched dinosaurs don’t move so fast, and sometimes still prefer measured and civilized discourse to lobbing grenades, so this is pushing them into uttering some really ghastly world-class drivel.
Most of you have probably seen multiple angles of the horrifying crash this weekend. The Mexican Navy training tall ship Cuauhtémoc, a three-masted barque, ran backwards into the iconic Brooklyn Bridge.
There were sailors manning every single yardarm on those masts.
…The Cuauhtémoc, carrying 277 people, was departing from Pier 17 in Manhattan, bound for Iceland, when it lost power around 8:20 p.m. The vessel drifted uncontrollably, and its towering masts struck the underside of the Brooklyn Bridge, snapping and collapsing onto the deck. Two crew members on the masts were killed, and 19 others were injured, with two in critical condition. A search and rescue operation ensured all personnel were accounted for, and the ship was towed to Pier 36 for passengers to disembark.
Initial conjecture was that the ship had lost power and was taken by the wind and rising, swift current into the bridge. There are only two minutes between cast off from the South Street Sea Port dock and impact – that’s how quickly it all happened.
But then the two maritime fellows I follow routinely, Sal Mercogliano and Capt John Konrad, pointed out that the current hadn’t yet set up to be running at its strongest, and the wind was negligible to account for the ship driving backward at the piers of the bridge, even if the vessel had lost power. But it had some power, because all the lights were on.
The fact that the tug was only alongside and not tied to the ship was also strange.
What they did notice? In one of the still frames, they spotted a wake, which meant the ship could have been moving faster than the current.
After Sal Mercogliano did another of his thorough video breakdowns of all traffic in the area, everything known about the vessel and conditions at the time, he received some info from another marine engineer, which may well help solve the mystery of the rapid and utterly tragic movement into the Brooklyn Bridge.
This is from an experienced marine engineer regarding Cuauhtémoc:
I found a bit of nerdy data. She’s powered by a CAT D399 SASC Engine. Those were built between the 60’s and 80’s and were known for a few issues, one of which is oil pressure reliability.
Those engines came with…

…Those engines came with 3 types of transmissions. The 7251, 7261, and the 7271, all of which are hydraulicly operated, require between 255-285 psi of oil pressure to function properly.
I bet she lost oil pressure, couldn’t go from full astern to ahead, and had no time or room to do anything about it by the time they noticed it. All the footage I found shows her throwing a stern wake.
She had no loss of power. On the contrary. They couldn’t take the power of the prop or reverse it.
Oh, it’s heartbreaking. We joined with my friend, Capt Konrad, as he offered up a prayer for the lost.
And to the sailors who crossed their final bar today, we say
Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd’st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep,
O hear us when we cry to thee
For those in peril on the sea!
There were some folks who weren’t quite as emotionally moved by the drama in front of them, at least not to prayer.
Some were moved by their TDS.
And the little prodding, progressive devil inside that says, ‘Here’s your shot! TAKE IT, YOU CHICKENLIVERED COWARD!‘ any time something awful happens. Just in case, you know, there’s an outside chance, they can make any part of it stick to the Bad Orange Man.
Schumer had his shot. He thought there was no danger.
And he fired away.
DOGE MADE THE BOAT HIT THE BRIDGE
~ ADM Sir Charles Schmucker
With the Brooklyn Bridge strike last night:
I’m fighting for answers about whether Trump and DOGE have impacted water traffic control.
We know they’ve been meddling with U.S. Coast Guard staffing.
Trump relieved Admiral Linda Fagan as Commandant of the USCG, and that position…
…Trump relieved Admiral Linda Fagan as Commandant of the USCG, and that position is still vacant.
And the hiring freeze has limited the ability for the USCG to staff up the Vehicle Traffic Service, that’s their traffic control operation that acts like Air Traffic Control but on water.
We need action for our national security, infrastructure protection, and public safety.
The senior senator earned himself scathing comments and a well-deserved ratio – where the number of comments blow the amount of ‘likes’ out of the water. It means angry people have plenty to say.
Chuck’s mentions are en fuego with hellfire and brimstone.
The Coast Guard did not take kindly to the insinuation that they were spending their time lying on a surfboard because of DOGE.
…The Coast Guard rejected Schumer’s claim in a statement of its own. Furthermore, there were no other ships involved in Saturday’s crash that would have involved the VTS.
The Coast Guard told Fox News Digital that VTS was “fully functional during the incident and operating in accordance with established procedures to manage commercial traffic and facilitate safe navigation.”
“Our response included launching a crew from Station New York, establishing a temporary safety zone, and coordinating with NYPD, FDNY, and NYC DOT,” they added.
The NY senator pissed the NYC mayor off royally, too. Eric Adams, who, unlike Schumer, had been at the scene and engaging with first responders and Mexican sailors, was mighty torqued when he was pressed about shortages thanks to Schumer’s gaslighting of the emergency services in the city.
…Adams, referencing a conversation he had with a member of the Coast Guard at the scene, said that in other regions of the country, the Coast Guard is often forced to take on more responsibility during such emergency situations because of the lack of local support from other agencies such as the police or fire department.
“He said when you go to other regions to deal with Coast Guard-related issues, the Coast Guard is filling a lot of manpower. Not in New York City,” Adams said.
Praising the efforts of “our harbor unit, NYPD unit, FDNY, our police response, EMS,” the mayor went on to challenge Schumer’s claims further.
“I’m not clear on where the senator got that information from, but I know we had a full response on both sides of the river, and we normally do that, we manage crises extremely well in this city,” Adams said.
The host pressed the mayor, “So cutbacks were not an issue?”
Adams replied, “Unless the senator knows something that I don’t know, but I don’t know what other role the Coast Guard would have played.
“We have the boats that were needed, we have the manpower that was needed, and we responded accordingly to get those 19 injured off the ship,” he said.
Adams said he learned in conversations there with Mexican Navy sailors that it takes them at least five minutes to climb into the rigging, which is why they were all caught along the yardarms. It all happened too fast – two minutes, remember.
And honestly, if it had to happen, that was probably also a blessing, as I imagine the casualty count would have been far higher had more of the young sailors been out of those harnesses that saved their lives while trying to scramble down in a panic.
We wish the injured a swift and full recovery, and send out our condolences to the family of the sailors who perished.
As for the terminal case of TDS foot-in-mouth disease so many Democrats seem to have contracted, I really don’t know what’s to be done about even just the indecency of it, let alone the inanity.
