CHRISTIAN HORNER is in talks to buy a minority stake in Formula 1 team Alpine.
Red Bull axed the 52-year-old last July following 20 years as team principal.
Alpine are 76 per cent owned by Renault, with the remaining 24 per cent stake controlled by Otro Capital.
Formula 1 veteran Flavio Briatore returned to the sport in 2024 as an executive adviser to Alpine, before going on to become de facto team principal the following year.
Speaking at the team’s livery reveal this week, Briatore commented on their ownership situation.
The Italian, 75, said: “Otro wants to sell the participation in Alpine. It’s a few groups interested. For the moment, this is the situation.
“I’ve known Christian for many years, I talk with Christian anyway, but this has nothing to do with me.
“First, you need to buy Otro, and after Renault needs to accept the buyer, and after we see what happens.
“But it has no link with me because he is negotiating with Otro, not negotiating with us.”
Alpine’s headquarters are situated in Enstone, Oxfordshire.

This would be convenient for Horner, who lives in a sprawling country mansion nearby.
Horner’s Red Bull departure came a year after the ‘sexting scandal’ that saw him accused of sending inappropriate texts to a female employee.
He initially kept his job, but was eventually relieved of his duties after Red Bull plummeted down constructor and driver standings mid-way through last season.
Per the BBC, Horner secured an eye-watering pay-off worth around £52million.
